Story

Day 19- Merged Tribe

The episode opens with a speedboat racing towards the shore. As we get closer, it is seen that the boat carries all four of the post-swap Malabo members, and a zoom out shows they are headed towards the Pichi camp.

Braidan: Merge! <expletive> yeah!

Martha: I’m looking forward to getting back.

Doris: Me, too! This is when things are going to pick up.

Manfred: It’s gonna be all out from here.

ManfredWestinghouse We got a note at camp this morning that said “pack up your <expletive> you’re going to Pichi” and it means we’re merging. And I just thought, “you bloody beauty!” A merge is what I was waiting for. I can get back to Lis, I can kick my plans into gear, and I can run to the end. This is when stuff is gonna start kicking into another gear, and I’m ready. I’ll do what I need to do. There’s nine people standing between me and two million bucks, so all bets are off.
Manfred Westinghouse

The boat then docks to the shores of the Pichi beach and the six other castaways walk towards the boat to greet them. Hugs and hellos are shared as the castaways acquaint themselves and introduce themselves to those who haven’t met yet. Lisette, Artyom and Vaska are introducing themselves to Doris and Braidan, who are in turn taking in their new surroundings.

Doris: This is a lovely beach! You’re living in a paradise.

Braidan: Yeah, this is sweet. It’s nice to meet you guys.

Lisette: I’m sorry to hear about Kollyn. Was he okay in the end?

Doris: I think leaving the game was best for him. He’ll be much happier now.

Lisette: I’m happy about that. Sometimes people just need to get away. Anyway, it’s nice to meet you.

As the castaways make their way around greeting each other, Ebony is seen hugging Doris.

Ebony: What happened with Kollyn?

Doris: Braidan happened, that’s what.

Ebony: Hmm… he’s going to be trouble.

EbonyDeLaRosa The merge is one of the most important moments in the game. We’re all one tribe which means the dynamics are going to shift, so I’m incredibly alert of my surroundings. I was already concerned about Braidan and hearing about this with Kollyn makes me even more so, but I’m not going to set one target on Braidan and just go with that. I’m not just going back to Amethyst and Doris because she was my ally on original Pichi. She can be a good ally to have, but I have new allies here as well. If we want different things, it’s going to just be like that. I’ll be very careful with what I say and who I trust while watching everyone to see how things change.
Ebony de la Rosa

Following Ebony’s confessional, the ten castaways head up to the main area in camp, where a note and a bag are waiting. Juan takes the note and reads out that the castaways are officially merged before taking a buff out of the bag- revealing the merged colour to be a light orange- and passes them around.

Juan: This is a really nice colour!

The castaways put on their new buffs and look behind them to see a large table of food piled with cold meats, cheeses, fruits, bread, peanut butter, sweet pastries, sodas and beers. Everyone starts to go over to the table and pile their plates. At the front of the table are Artyom, Doris, Lisette, Martha and Amethyst. They all take a good amount of food and leave the table. The last five go up to get something and the camera focuses in on Braidan at the far right. Hidden among all the food is an envelope, which Braidan notices. Checking that no one is looking, he takes the envelope and hides it away. In excitement, he grabs some food and walks off, now a little antsy to check the envelope.

Juan: Hey Braidan!

Braidan: (jumps) Woah, hey, dude.

Juan: (laughs) Are you alright? Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you.

Braidan: Yeah, I’m good, man. Just zoned out because I didn’t think I’d get here and I’m still in awe a little.

Juan: I’m glad that you’re here too. So, you hung on by the skin of your teeth? That’s surprising.

Braidan: I did. I’ll tell you all about it when I get back, though. I have to go to the bathroom.

Juan: Sure thing. Come sit by Vaska and Artyom. They’re my new allies and I want to introduce you.

Braidan: I’ll put it down next to them and then I’ll come back.

Braidan walks over to Vaska and Artyom and puts down his food.

Braidan: Hey, I’m going to the bathroom but I’ll be back, so don’t eat my food. Bye!

Braidan walks off.

Artyom: Bye!

We see Braidan going into the forest to a private area hidden from view, and ripping the envelope open. Inside there is a note and a wrapped cloth with something hard in the middle. Braidan jumps up and down.

Braidan: No way! No way! No <expletive> way!

Braidan unwraps the cloth and sure enough, it is a Hidden Immunity Idol.

Braidan: Dude! No <expletive> way! Oh my God! <expletive> yes!

Braidan reads the note informing him he has officially found a Hidden Immunity Idol, and it must be played after the votes are cast but before they are read. He immediately shoves the idol in his underwear and jumps up and down some more.

Braidan: YESSSSS! This is the best moment of my life.

As Braidan makes his way back to camp, the camera cuts to his confessional.

BraidanNash The merge is off to an incredible start! Everyone was just grabbing their food at the table, and while I was up there, I noticed an envelope out of the corner of my eye. There was nothing written on it or anything but I thought it might have been something important so I stashed it and ran off. There was literally an idol inside! I have a fully functioning idol in my possession that was just sitting in an envelope in the corner of the feast table. That’s the craziest thing I’ve ever heard but I’m not complaining.
Braidan Nash

Following Braidan’s confessional, he is seen returning to Vaska, Artyom and Juan.

Vaska: Feeling better now, man?

Braidan: Yeah, all good. So, who’s who, Juan? Introduce me to your buddies.

Juan: Okay, so the blonde is Vaska, who uses they/them pronouns. The guy stuffing his face full of ham right now is Artyom. (laughs)

Artyom: Ham is very good. If you did not come back I would eat yours.

Braidan: Lucky I came back, then! Nice to meet you two. Has Juan talked about me getting back together with him? Because I’m so keen to do that.

Juan: I’ve told them bits and pieces about you! From the sounds of things, you only just made it to the merge?

Braidan: Oh, God, yes. I have the juiciest story about Martha to tell you all.

Artyom: Oh, what happened?

Braidan: She’s playing literally everyone. She tried to get in good with me, Ria, Doris, Kollyn and Manfred, and Ria saw through it all. We spoke about it and were going to get Kollyn to blindside her. Problem is, Kollyn and Doris actually fell for her stuff and they told her, and blindsided Ria instead.

Vaska: Wow, so that’s what happened to Ria. But what happened to Kollyn, then?

Braidan: Couldn’t take the backlash of <expletive> me over a third time so he quit.

Artyom: Oh.

Braidan: Martha had such a good hold over Kollyn that, no matter how many times I told him that she was playing him, he never believed it. Even when I asked him to ask her about stuff she hadn’t told him, she kept at him and he just broke and quit.

Artyom: So you want to vote Martha?

Braidan: One million percent. Manfred and I had it planned before Kollyn left, so he’ll be on board. I think we could get anyone but Doris on board, to be honest.

Juan: I have my doubts about Amethyst because she can’t stand you and she’s being stubborn, but the others, sure.

Braidan: Screw Amethyst, she can go home, too. I only need you guys. You have to know that you can’t trust a <expletive> word Martha says to you. I’m glad I got to you guys before she did. She’ll try and paint me as the bad guy.

Vaska: Thanks for the heads up, Braidan. We appreciate it.

Braidan: I’ll keep loyal to you guys. We just have to take her out ASAP.

There is a short pause, as Braidan eats a little more food.

Braidan: I’m gonna get a soda, you guys want one?

Vaska: No, we’re good.

Braidan leaves. The camera cuts to his confessional.

BraidanNash I wanna get rid of Martha the first vote we can, so I knew I needed to start telling people about her immediately. We didn’t catch on about Martha until the day before our first Tribal, and by then it was already too late. I don’t want the same thing to happen here because I know I’m her target. I know that Vaska has the idol too and I want that gone, but Martha is my number one priority. Juan will be a great ally, same as Manfred, and maybe Artyom. We can still work together strongly with Vaska and their idol gone. The only idol that should be in the game is mine because those things <expletive< <expletive> up. At the moment, the only thing that could <expletive> me up more is Martha still being here, so we’ll deal with Vaska later.
Braidan Nash

The camera then goes back to Juan, Vaska and Artyom as they absorb Braidan’s claims.

Vaska: Well, that wasn’t the story I was expecting to hear. What a nice introduction to Braidan, too.

Juan: Yeah, he can be pretty forceful when he wants to be, but I think it’s just his energetic youth.

Vaska: I dunno what to think about it, to be honest. Martha had my back on Pichi.

Artyom: Juan, is true what Braidan says?

Juan: The thing with Braidan is he has a strong determination to rid the game of the person he’s set his sights on. Most of the time it’s warranted, so I’d say… yes it’s possibly true, although I think it’s exaggerated just a little bit.

Artyom: I speak to Ebony before merge, and she said “do not trust Braidan.” So I am having some worry.

Juan: Ebony is one of the people Braidan targeted very strongly. He’s voted for her twice, and I don’t doubt that he’ll come after her again at some point, so it’s very understandable that she wouldn’t trust him.

Vaska: It doesn’t help that he’s with Manfred, who I don’t trust much at all either. Manfred tried to get rid of me and my idol, so if Braidan knows about my idol, I don’t like my chances.

Artyom: Martha sometimes says lies, but Braidan I think sometimes says lies also. I will think.

ArtyomKuznetsov When we merge, Braidan says to us, “do not trust Martha. She is saying many lies.” Before we get here, Ebony says this to me about Braidan. I told her I would stop Braidan from hurting her if she would make Vaska safe, so I think I will do that. Juan thinks Braidan is true. I know Martha has said some lies to other people and we are not allies of each other, so is maybe true. But when I think of Braidan, I think, “I do not trust.” He wants to vote Martha, Ebony, Amethyst, a lot of people already and I think he will vote me and Vaska at one time. I want Braidan to leave soon but I will watch Martha also.
Artyom Kuznetsov

Following Artyom’s confessional, and the castaways having eaten as much food as they can, the group of ten are sitting around camp ready to begin discussions about what to name the tribe.

Amethyst: So, what are we gonna call this bad boy?

Juan: I have a suggestion that a certain someone is going to hate me for.

Lisette: (laughs) What is it?

Juan: I propose we call the tribe “Blub Blub” after my good friend Artyom here.

Vaska loses it laughing, and Manfred and Lisette laugh as well. Artyom facepalms. Amethyst is starting to smile, along with Ebony, but the others are confused.

Doris: What on earth?

Manfred: It’s a Pichi in-joke. You have to have been on Pichi to understand it.

Braidan: What the <expletive> is Blub Blub?

Vaska: The most amazing thing ever that we are absolutely naming the merged tribe.

Martha: Artyom, go on, tell them the story. (laughs)

Artyom: Okay, so I have little son called Alexei. I go to beach one day with friends and him, and he want me to pretend to be fish. So I am pretending to be fish, and I say “blub blub blub” like fish says. But I look up and friends are laughing. So now, when I am with friends and I ask for water, they say “blub blub blub.”

Braidan: (laughs) Okay, that’s great.

Artyom: And when I tell Pichi here, now they say “blub blub blub” also.

Braidan: Yeah, I wanna call the tribe Blub Blub now.

Doris: That’s a funny joke, but should we really be naming the tribe this? Artyom, would you be okay with it?

Artyom: (chuckles) Yes, if you decide.

Juan: Alright, everyone in favour of Blub Blub?

The tribe all voice their favour, and Artyom laughs.

Juan: Okay, then we’re Tribe Blub Blub.

The group then begin painting the flag, writing their names and putting handprints on. Artyom takes some paint and goes under Vaska’s name, where he starts drawing a cat. Vaska notices and tries to move Artyom.

Vaska: No. Nope. Not happening!

Artyom: Yes happens. If I am blub blub, you are cat.

Vaska: (giggles) You jerk.

Artyom: Let me finish little cat.

Vaska: Okay, I guess I owe you this one.

Artyom: Yes.

Laughing, Artyom finishes the cat besides Vaska’s name. When everyone is done with the flag, they hang it up and the cat is one of the first things everyone notices.

Martha: Why is Vaska a cat?

Juan immediately starts laughing.

Lisette: Is this another story? I need to hear this.

Artyom: Vaska is a common name for cat in Russia, so Vaska is cat.

Manfred: Short and sweet, love it.

Juan: Vaska the cat and Artyom the fish. You two are something else.

As the castaways begin to go their own way, Juan smiles and the camera cuts to his confessional.

JuanRivera Meeting and befriending Artyom and Vaska has been a ride, because they are absolutely nothing like anyone I’ve met before. I proposed naming the merged tribe Blub Blub as a joke, and they both went for it without question. Artyom drawing a cat next to Vaska’s name on the flag was just the icing on the cake. I think it would be fitting if the three of us went to the end together. Only with those two could I get away with officially calling us the Blub Blub Tribe. (laughs)
Juan Rivera

Following Juan’s confessional, most of the castaways have gone away to do their own thing. We pick up on Lisette and Manfred as they finally catch up one on one for the first time since the swap.

Lisette: Wow, am I so relieved to see you.

LisetteMcDonald I’m thrilled to be on the merged tribe, and my first priority was getting back with Manfred and swapping information. I have a lot of stories to tell and I’m sure he does as well. We’ll be able to combine our information into taking control of this tribe. That’s what today is going to be about for a lot of people, I think. There are a lot of people who have connections from the other swapped tribe who are going to be trying to use it to get an advantage. Manfred is a great person to do that with because he doesn’t mess around.
Lisette McDonald

Manfred: Were you running into some trouble on Pichi?

Lisette: I was going to be voted out if we went to Tribal. Vaska and Artyom were pretty quick to turn on me. So Kollyn’s quit really saved me.

Manfred: Did you have anyone at all that would’ve gone out on a limb for you?

Lisette: Ebony, definitely. Amethyst, potentially. But Ebony is a very loyal ally that we could use from now on. I’m really unsure about Amethyst because she’s close to Juan, who is close to Vaska and Artyom, but I did tell Ebony about Vaska’s idol. I don’t know whether that changed anything in regards to Amethyst.

Manfred: Everyone on Malabo knows about Vaska’s idol, too, I think. But boy do I have a story to tell you. Kollyn’s quit <expletive> us up as well, because we were gearing up to blindside Martha.

Lisette: Martha? Wow. I need to know this story.

Manfred: Oh, it’s a bloody story, alright, and it goes back to Ria. So, you know how Martha <expletive> us up over Vaska?

Lisette: And put me on certain elimination over at Pichi? Yes.

Manfred: I thought she was a little dodgy after that, but she came to us Pichis and said we’d stick together. Apparently she was going around making best friends with the Malabos as well. She made really good friends with Kollyn and Doris. Anyway, pre-tribal comes, and Ria and Braidan got talking. They realised that Martha had been playing them both, so they wanted to vote her out. But the dickheads told Kollyn instead of me, and Kollyn told Martha, so bye-bye Ria.

Lisette: (gasps) That’s how Ria went home? We all thought it was rocks.

Manfred: Not even close. Braidan told me about all this after the Tribal and I knew Martha had been screwing me around, too. I was gonna go with him and Kollyn to send her home, but he pulled the plug because the game was getting to him.

Lisette: Poor guy… so do you want to take Martha out this first vote?

Manfred: Bloody hell yeah. At the moment, it’s me and Braidan, and you and Ebony will do it, right?

Lisette: I’ll make it happen. Ebony, to my recollection, isn’t on great terms with Braidan, but she’ll want this blindside to go ahead.

Manfred: No one’s on great terms with Braidan because he’s a tosser, but what’s Ebony like to you, as a player?

Lisette: I think she’ll do it. She seems very strategically inclined, but I don’t like the numbers at the moment. If Doris is tight with Martha, that makes two. If Amethyst is with Juan, who’s with Vaska and Artyom, that’s another four, which makes six.

Manfred: Talk <expletive> over with Juan, Vaska and Artyom. They know Martha’s game, so we’ll work them over. Amethyst I don’t know about, and Doris seems like a lost bloody cause.

Lisette: Somehow I doubt that they’ll work with, or even believe, me after trying to get me out for the last six days.

Manfred: Apologise. Talk them through what’s been going through your mind. Tell them this Martha vote is for the greater good, and if they want two million bucks, then they’ll listen. We’ve got one shot at Martha going home, I reckon. If we can’t get her out and she’s gonna coast through the game I’ll gladly leave and sit on the Jury ‘cause I’m not playing the whole <expletive> game with her bull<expletive>.

Lisette: I’ll see what I can do, but I really want Martha out now, as well. Whatever happens, you’re my number one, so I’ll take you to the end.

Manfred: Yep, number ones always.

The two finish their conversation and keep walking. The camera cuts to Manfred’s confessional.

ManfredWestinghouse God, I love Lisette. She’s the best ally I could ask for. I’m so happy she made the merge ‘cause we just linked right back up and swapped stories about the tribes. As soon as the idea was put out there, she was on board for a Martha blindside no questions asked. She’s got Ebony from the swap side, so I reckon we’ll be able to link up, but that’s only four. She told me she was in a bit of strife, but a chat with Vaska and Artyom should bloody fix that. I haven’t got time to <expletive> around with people who put emotions into this thing. I want this Martha boot to happen ‘cause it’s the best thing strategically for everyone, so things better bloody work.
Manfred Westinghouse

Following Manfred’s confessional, we see the members of another pre-merge alliance catching up: Amethyst, Doris and Ebony. The three of them are on the beach.

Doris: I’m so happy to be back with you both! I’d love it if we could continue our alliance now that the merge has come. Amethyst: I’m so excited for that, what about you, Ebony?

Ebony: Yeah, sounds good to me. (smiles)

Doris: Amazing! I’ve already said it to you before but I’ll say it again, I’ll be loyal to you both until the end. I’m very excited about Martha, too. I know she’ll be happy to join our group.

Ebony: What’s Martha like? I’ve never interacted with her.

Doris: She’s so lovely. She was kind to both me and wee Kollyn. When he was upset about Braidan, she comforted him as if they’d been friends for their whole lives. She was an incredible friend to me as well, and she made me feel so welcome. Braidan tried to say horrible and untrue things, like she was manipulating us.

Amethyst: Of course Braidan says that. It sounds like the kind of thing he’d do when he was on the outs.

Doris: Aye, he and Ria tried to blindside Martha, but Kollyn told us, bless his soul. I could tell it was a hard decision for him, and Braidan decided to guilt him into quitting. That was the last straw for me. I’d love to get rid of him.

Amethyst: Again, that sounds like a very Braidan thing to do. You won’t get any argument from me.

Ebony: Braidan’s very dangerous. It sounds like you and Martha get along very well.

Doris: Aye, you both ought to meet her and see for yourselves. She’s truly someone I see taking the three of us to the end. I would love that, and for Braidan to get what’s coming to him.

Amethyst: Absolutely! We can bring Martha into the group. After Braidan goes home, we can take out Vaska’s idol.

Doris: Aye, Martha told me that Vaska had an idol. I’m not sure what she’ll want to do, but we should keep an eye out for it.

Amethyst: Well, Vaska will have to go anyway. I’d like the four of us to make up the final four.

Doris: Beautiful plan!

The three conclude their conversation, with the camera cutting to Doris’ confessional.

DorisHughes I’ve been looking forward to getting back with Amethyst and Ebony since we merged. They were my allies on Malabo, so to bring them and Martha together to form a strong group of four was high on my list of priorities. To hear they were all on board, no dramas, was amazing. I told them all about Braidan, and having had their own issues, I think they wanted to get him out just as much as I did. I’m feeling very good about this new group, because with the way Braidan is, I’m sure he’ll be an easy first elimination at this merge vote.
Doris Hughes

Following Doris’ confessional, there is a transitional nature shot and the camera picks up on Ebony and Martha sitting down together. Martha: Thanks for wanting to introduce yourself to me!

Ebony: Doris talked a lot about you, so I had to come and see what all the fuss was about.

EbonyDeLaRosa With Doris raving about how amazing Martha is, and how much she’d like to work with her, I had to take her one on one for a conversation. From the little I’ve heard about her via Artyom, she has a lot of friends and has been asked to vote different ways by different people. Thinking about that, it’s very suspicious that she would want to become best friends with Doris and Kollyn, while also being targeted by Braidan and Ria. Kollyn was willing to save her, Doris loves her; it seems like somebody who’s got their hand in too many cookie jars. I need to see if I can trust her, and if I can’t, I have no problem going against her and leaving Doris in the process.
Ebony de la Rosa

Martha: Doris! What a wonderful woman. So sweet, kind, loyal; she has a fantastic heart.

Ebony: That she does. She was telling me that you’re having some troubles with Braidan?

Martha: Oh my God, he’s a nightmare. He’s been manipulating people against me because he tried to turn against me and I caught onto it. He guilt tripped Kollyn into quitting, and he’s still trying to paint me as the villain.

Ebony: I see. Yes, that’s on brand for Braidan. He wanted to get me out at the first vote, and when that didn’t happen, very obsessively targeted me for the second vote we went to. I’m lucky that we didn’t cross paths during the swap, or I would have been a goner.

Martha: I wish I had your fortune. (laughs) It seems like you and I could benefit from working together and sending Braidan home immediately. You seem like a really strong woman and I like that. I’m a strong woman, too. I don’t want to be pushed around by people who think they’re God’s gift to the human race.

Ebony: Of course not. So, tell me about your relationships with Doris and Kollyn.

Martha: I already spoke about Doris. We just got talking, and we found we had a lot in common. Kollyn was a really sweet kid, he didn’t deserve the backlash from Braidan. I felt a duty to protect him. I don’t know whether it was a Canadian to Canadian thing, but things were so genuine between us during the game. I felt really upset when he left, which is another reason why I want to take Braidan out.

Ebony: Kollyn was very sweet. It’s a shame that he left like that. I wish I’d gotten to say goodbye.

Martha: I can tell that relationships mean a lot to you, and they do to me, too. That’s why I want to stick with Doris, and I think the two of us would be great allies, too.

Ebony: Who do you have from your side? Doris would love to work with you.

Martha: Oh, I think Vaska would be a great addition, and they’re close with Artyom. I would really love to work with you and Doris in the long term, though. Doris told me how great you are, and I can see she’s right. She has great taste in allies, huh?

Ebony: She sure does.

Martha: I can’t wait to work together! It’s going to be great. After the first Tribal Council, as long as he doesn’t win immunity, we won’t have to worry about him any longer.

Ebony: That sounds great!

Their conversation concludes and we are taken to another Ebony confessional.

EbonyDeLaRosa I don’t trust Martha one bit. She should never go into acting. Her attempts at getting on my good side are so painfully transparent. I mentioned surviving Braidan, she played the strong woman card. I talked about Kollyn and she played the relationships card. The one plus she has going for her is that she wants to get Braidan out, which I do too, but I do not believe for a second that she wants to abandon her entire tribe for Doris and I. It’s just not happening. If this is who Doris trusts, then she’s been blinded by the act.
Ebony de la Rosa

Following Ebony’s confessional and the conclusion of the conversation between her and Martha, we see Martha again, this time with Amethyst.

Martha: Hi! I’m glad we’re finally getting to meet.

Amethyst: Me too! Doris says you’re great and that you want Braidan out as much as I do, so that’s a brilliant start already!

Martha: Braidan is a complete nightmare who wants to make everyone think I’m a manipulative bitch. He just tried to get rid of me and failed.

Amethyst: Yep, that’s true to form, and I heard about him guilting Kollyn into quitting. Gross. He also thinks I’m untrustworthy then offered me the fakest apology I’ve ever heard. I felt bad for Juan, because Braidan was the only reason I flipped against his side. I knew that he’d try to get me out immediately, which is why I want him gone ASAP here now.

Martha: Sign me up! So, what do you do with yourself, Amethyst?

Amethyst: I’m an Optometrist, but I’m also quite physically fit. I used to do a lot of sports back in college as well as my studies.

Martha: No kidding! What sports did you do?

Amethyst: I was very into track and field, so I did 100 and 200m sprints, and I tried my hand at archery and shotput, which I was decent at, but running was my strongest point. Do you do any sports?

Martha: I haven’t for a long time, but when I was younger I did baseball. My cousin and I were huge fans of it, and I’ve hit the winning home run a couple of times.

Amethyst: It’s always great to have a family connection. My littlest brothers, Julius and Sylvester like sports as well. Julius is super into basketball and plays in a club on the weekends.

Martha: Family connections in sports are great, because there’s someone you can share them with. Sadly my cousin passed away when we were both young, but it only made my passion for baseball stronger.

Amethyst: Oh my goodness, I’m so sorry.

Martha: It’s okay, I know that he’s willing me on out here and laughing at me every time I don’t walk away with an immunity.

Amethyst: I’m so <expletive> competitive, if I don’t win an individual challenge at some point I’m going to burst. I would love if one of us won the immunity that sends Braidan home!

Martha: Oh my God, yes! That would just be the icing on the cake. Here’s to two strong, competitive women who want to hand Braidan’s ass to him!

Amethyst: Me, you, Doris and Ebony are going to be an amazing group. I can just see it now.

The conversation ends with both women happy. The camera cuts to Amethyst’s confessional.

AmethystDurant Martha and I immediately got along so well. We have so much in common, she makes me smile and laugh, and I can tell that we’re both going to be great allies. We’re both strong, competitive and sporty women who want Braidan out with a burning passion, and she’s already super close with Doris, who I’m close with as well. I’d love for us to get even closer out here because I can see her as someone I’d easily become friends with after the show.
Amethyst Durant

The camera then changes focus to a smiling Martha as the camera cuts to her confessional.

MarthaSchofield I’ve had a great first day in this new tribe. I’ve gotten along really well with Amethyst, and Doris has given me a connection to Ebony as well. I really Ebony and think we can work well together. I haven’t caught up with Vaska yet, but the two of us were close on the original Pichi, so this shouldn’t be a problem. Despite how well things are going, I don’t think I’ll truly be able to rest until Braidan is out of the game for good, and the more I talk to people, the more confident I am with that happening. Braidan has burned a lot of bridges so I think it’s only a matter of time before his luck runs out. I’d love to win the immunity and send him out with a smile on my face.

Day 20- Blub Blub Tribe

On the morning of Day 20 for the recently merged Blub Blub Tribe, we are treated to some shots of the beautiful ocean and beaches, some of the flora, forestry and wildlife, before we see Vaska sitting quietly in the forest early in the morning. The camera cuts to their confessional as they are shown to have some nervousness in their eyes.

VaskaTomasevic So it’s day 20, we’ve been merged for a full day. If things keep going along the way they have been, we’ll be having Tribal Council tomorrow. I’m a little nervous because I know pretty much the entire cast knows about my idol, I had a target on my back before the merge, and it’ll be worse coming in here. With the idol and the challenges, I don’t feel safe at all, and nobody has really come to me with anything. I’ve heard Martha’s name floated around, but I want to spend today making sure my bonds are up to date and I’m safe without immunity or the need for an idol at Tribal.
Vaska Tomašević

Following Vaska’s confessional, Artyom walks into the forest and finds them sitting there.

Artyom: A-ha. I found you. Why are you here?

Vaska: I’m so nervous, man. I just wanted to clear my head.

Artyom: Why worry?

Vaska: So many people know about my idol and I need to make sure that I’m safe. I’m gonna go around talking to people today.

Artyom: Well, I will not vote you. Come to camp and see Juan.

Artyom and Vaska head back to camp and over towards Juan.

Juan: There you are, Vaska. Artyom and I were worried about you. What’s on your mind?

Vaska: Don’t take this the wrong way, but you’re definitely with me, right?

Juan: Of course. I’d even shake your hand on it.

Juan offers his hand out to shake and Vaska accepts.

Vaska: Thanks. I’m just worried that I’m going to be a target because so many people know about my idol.

Juan: Braidan wants to target Martha so if things get bad, we can always go to that.

Artyom: And as I say to you, Ebony will make us all safe, so she will not vote you.

Vaska: I think I’d be better off going to talk to her myself. Not that I don’t believe you, but I need to hear it with my own ears for peace of mind.

Artyom: Yes.

Vaska walks until they find Ebony and pulls her aside. The two quickly engage in conversation.

Ebony: What can I do for you?

Vaska: I wanted to know if what you told Artyom about protecting me was true.

Ebony: I’m one hundred percent serious about that, yes.

Vaska: How? I mean- why? We didn’t speak that much.

Ebony: I need to open up my options. I’m close with Artyom. He asked if I’d protect you, and I said I would.

Vaska: You know about… the thing, right?

Ebony: Your idol? Yes, I do.

Vaska: Did Lisette tell you?

Ebony: You backed her into a corner, what did you expect?

Vaska: (sighs) Yeah. So, is she coming after me, or what’s happening?

Ebony: No, she’s not. The only names that you need to worry about are Martha and Braidan. I won’t let you go before either of them, and they’re the two names that are being sent around. I would be very, very wary of trusting Martha, if I were you.

Vaska: Everybody keeps telling me that. What did she do?

Ebony: She’s incredibly transparent. She tried to get on my good side by playing whatever card I even hinted at. I think she’s trying to do that with everyone. So I would be very careful if I were you, and of Braidan. I guarantee you Braidan knows about the idol if I do, and that’s where you’ll be in trouble.

Vaska: That really doesn’t make me feel good…

Ebony: I’ll keep you safe. Stick by me and everything will be fine. Just don’t trust Martha or Braidan, whatever you do.

Vaska: What about Lisette and Manfred? They don’t trust me either. They tried to vote me out, so I doubt they’ll keep me around.

Ebony: I’ll take care of it. Go and talk to them yourself if you’re worried.

Vaska: I think I will do that. But I can definitely rely on you, right?

Ebony: Martha and Braidan are first on my list, and I promised Artyom you’d be safe. I’m not going back on that.

Vaska: Thanks.

Vaska and Ebony part ways. The camera cuts to Ebony’s confessional.

EbonyDeLaRosa Vaska’s very worried for their safety, and I would be too if I was in their situation- idol, challenge beast, a couple of enemies- but they’re going to be completely safe. For one thing, the only names being thrown around are Martha’s and Braidan’s, but even if they weren’t, I’d keep my promise to Artyom to make Vaska safe. Vaska needs to go before the end, but they’re not even close to the top of my list of priorities. The longer they stay here, it benefits me, because I build on my relationship with Artyom and I have a shield in front of me. God knows I need one of those because I’ve received votes at every Tribal I’ve been to, and I don't want any more. (laughs)
Ebony de la Rosa

Following Ebony’s confessional, we see Vaska catching up with Lisette and Manfred.

Vaska: I think it’s really important that I talk to you two, because I don’t like the way things have gone between us.

Manfred: Yeah, things have gone a bit pear shaped. That idol scares the <expletive> out of me.

Lisette: I know that you wanted to get rid of me, but I’ll let bygones be bygones if you will. We have more important things to take care of.

Vaska: You told Ebony about my idol, huh?

Lisette: Of course I did. You wanted me out and made no secret of it. I had no choice. But like I said, I don’t have the time to be in a rivalry with you when other people are a far bigger danger to the three of us.

Vaska: I just came from a talk with Ebony and she said she’d be on board with keeping me. What do you two think about her?

Lisette: If Ebony said that, you can believe it. She was the only person who even gave me a second glance on the Pichi Tribe. You aren’t anywhere close to who we want to get out right now. Ebony has Braidan to worry about, and we have Martha to take care of.

Vaska: Again with Martha. You’re the third person to say things to me about her.

Manfred: Oh, mate, she is absolutely playing everyone. She left Lisette and I in the <expletive> because she said she’d be in on voting you out. She’s been buddying up with the Malabos since the swap. They bailed her out when Ria wanted to turn on her because she found out.

Vaska: I’m so confused…

Manfred: You can’t trust a bloody word Martha says, and we want her out, not you.

Vaska: She’s always been so serious and true to me.

Manfred: It’s all part of her act. Go ask her.

Vaska: Okay, say I did vote out Martha or Braidan. I want to bury the hatchet with you two but how do I know you won’t just go back to targeting me and my idol when the others are gone?

Lisette: You having the idol scares me because I’m in the same boat as you physically. Would you be willing to throw it in the ocean?

Vaska: No, not now with people targeting me anyway.

Lisette: Then it’s going to be a problem eventually, and not just from us, because everyone knows about it.

Manfred: I reckon Martha slipped Doris and Kollyn the info about it too. Braidan heard from Ria, but she didn’t say <expletive> to Doris. Go check with Doris if she knows anything about it, and if she does, then you know Martha’s playing you.

Vaska: Well, as long as you guys will promise me that I’m not going home for the next couple of votes, I guess we could bury things.

Lisette: I’m setting my sights firmly on Martha, don’t worry, but I’m not going to sit here and tell you I’ll avoid targeting you and the idol because that would just be a lie. You shouldn’t be focused on us anyway, when there’s bigger threats around.

Vaska: Okay. Thanks… I guess. I’ll go and talk to Manfred.

Vaska leaves. Lisette turns to Manfred.

Lisette: There’s no way we’re going to be able to work with Vaska long term.

Manfred: Absolutely bloody not. Aren’t they all buddy buddy with Artyom and Juan right now anyway?

Lisette: Exactly, and not with us. We’ll never be on the same page again. It’ll come down to our groups eventually, so I’m not tricking myself into some deal that’s not going to benefit me.

Manfred: Right. All I care about right now is getting Martha out and working with you and Ebony. Need to talk to her, by the way. She sounds like a ripper.

Lisette: Oh, she’s great. You’ll love her, and she’ll be loyal to us for sure.

The two conclude their conversation. The camera cuts to Lisette’s confessional.

LisetteMcDonald Vaska’s a difficult one. They were trying to rope me into some sort of deal where I wouldn’t target them and their idol, which is ridiculous. I want Martha out after everything I’ve heard, but Vaska still wanted me out at the swap. They have a strong group, and they’re going to be a danger to me. I’m not taking that idol any further than I have to. My plan is to stick with Manfred and Ebony and keep myself safe for as long as I can, by any means necessary. We’ve told Vaska about Martha’s lies, so I hope they see that we’re telling the truth and join us in our blindside. If Martha can get inside Vaska’s head and they end up teaming up together, not only is the plan blown, but they’ll be unstoppable.
Lisette McDonald

Following Lisette’s confessional, the camera picks up as Vaska makes their way towards Martha.

VaskaTomasevic I’ve had four different people tell me I can’t trust Martha, so I need to get to the bottom of this. It’s pretty much the same story, too, that she’s playing everyone. I’ve always felt that Martha had my back from the first day where we had that conversation. This could be Manfred and Lisette getting in my head because they’re still worried about the idol. I’m not sure if I see how Martha could be playing me when she had the opportunity to take me out and didn’t. I just need to ask her about this and see if it’s all a big misunderstanding. I can’t throw away an ally without good reason.
Vaska Tomašević

Vaska: Hey, Martha.

Martha: Vaska! It’s so great to see you again. (she hugs them) What can I do for you?

Vaska: I need to talk to you about some things I’ve been hearing. I’ve had four different people tell me that you’re not to be trusted and you’re playing everybody. What’s going on?

Martha: (sighs) Let me guess, was one of those Braidan?

Vaska: Yeah, he was the first.

Martha: You know Braidan has been gunning for me ever since he tried and failed to get me out at the swap, right? Of course he’s going to say whatever he can to turn people against me.

Vaska: Martha, one or two people might lie, but four? I doubt it. What really happened at the swap? I’ve heard you were trying to buddy up with the Malabos.

Martha: (sigh) Of course I was talking to them? Vaska, do you not believe me just because a few people are saying so? I could have taken you and your idol out if I wanted to, but I didn’t. You and I made key decisions together, remember? We’ve had a great run, and I’d hate for that to be disrupted.

Vaska: Did you tell Doris and Kollyn about my idol?

Martha: Yes, I did, but it was because Braidan had heard from Ria and cornered me to tell them. He was trying to expose me for being untrustworthy. I really had no choice.

Vaska: Well that’s great, so now everyone knows about it.

Martha: I wouldn’t have told them otherwise, but if I didn't at that stage, I'd be in even more trouble than I am now.

Vaska: So what’s your plan? Have you made any deals with them? Who do you want to go with?

Martha: I want Braidan out of here immediately, and want to go with you of course. We’ve been really tight since day one and I want to continue that. Braidan is the least trustworthy person in this entire game, so don’t take notice of anything he says.

Vaska: My problem is you seem to have told Lisette and Manfred that you three were tight and you wanted to continue with them.

Martha: A long time ago, and they wanted to go against you. Why are you doubting me so much?

Vaska: I’m not doubting, I just want to clear things up because there are a lot of people saying otherwise. If it was just Braidan, or even just Lisette and Manfred, I’d probably let it slide. You’ve made a lot of people mad, so I’m gonna ask you again, do you have any deals with the Malabos?

Martha: I don’t have a deal with anyone from that side. I’m in an alliance with Doris and Amethyst, but when it comes down to it, my priority will be you. I promise, if you, Artyom and Juan could just side with me, I’d never forget it.

Vaska: Thanks for your help, I really appreciate you being straight with me.

Martha: You’re welcome. I’m really nervous now. I can’t afford to lose you as an ally, especially for Braidan.

Vaska: Don’t worry, everything will be fine.

Vaska leaves. The camera focuses on Martha’s worried expression.

MarthaSchofield Yesterday I thought I was in a great spot, but today things are going downhill fast and I don’t know if I can stop them. Vaska’s starting to doubt my alliance to them when I was hoping they’d be the one to pull me over the line. It looks like Braidan got to them, but what’s concerning is they said four people have painted me as untrustworthy. Braidan is one, and Lisette and Manfred make three. I can’t figure out who the fourth one is. I’ve got Doris and Amethyst, I think, so I’ll need Vaska to come through and save me or I’m out. Suddenly, immunity has become less of a want and more of a need.
Martha Schofield

Following Martha’s confessional, we see Vaska again. This time, they have gone to see Doris.

Vaska: Hey, Doris, can I talk to you about something for a sec?

Doris: Anything you like, dear! What’s on your mind?

Vaska: Well, I wanted to talk to you about Martha. How do you feel about her? I heard you two got pretty close at the swap.

Doris: Martha’s a lovely woman. She’s very sweet and kind, and incredibly trustworthy. We did get close, yes, and I know that she’ll always have my back.

Vaska: Did she mention anything about me to you?

Doris: Not a whole lot, but if she trusts you, then I’m sure you’ll be a great ally too. We need all the people we can get against Braidan.

Vaska: Hmmm, okay, and she told you about my idol?

Doris: Only because Braidan forced her to admit it. He was getting into wee Kollyn’s head and tried to make Martha seem like a liar, which she’s not. Braidan’s dangerous and he’s a devil. I wouldn’t waste my time listening to anything he says.

Vaska: I’ve heard a few stories about Braidan, too.

Doris: Trust me, I’ve been on a tribe with him since day one. You want to watch out for him. I think he guilted Kollyn into quitting, and he’s been coming after Martha.

Vaska: Ouch. Yeah, I’m definitely keeping my eye on him. I don’t like that he knows about my idol.

Doris: Then come with Martha, Amethyst and I. I’m sure we’ve got Ebony, and we can send him home! Then you’ll be worry free.

Vaska: You seem really confident in Martha. I guess she promised you loyalty, huh?

Doris: Aye, I’m planning to go to the end of the game with her and I'm sure she is with me. I believe she’d take you too. I’m certainly willing to get to know you since you’ve come up to talk to me.

Vaska: Thanks a lot, Doris.

Vaska smiles and walks away. The camera cuts to their confessional as they think over the situation.

VaskaTomasevic After my conversation with Martha, I went to talk to Doris and get her side of things to clear up any doubts. When I spoke to her, she was very sweet, singing Martha’s praises, but it actually made me think that Martha is playing people. She told me that she wants to go to the end with me, but she’s either told Doris the same thing, or Doris is just heavily misguided. I don’t know. Doris doesn’t seem like the kind of person to lie, so I doubt she’d mislead me. I might need to rethink things with Martha, but I’m also very wary of Braidan. He knows about my idol and he seems like a very dangerous person, so I’m not sure who I’d vote out if I was asked.
Vaska Tomašević

Following Vaska’s confessional, there is a transitional nature shot and the camera picks up on Braidan and Juan walking together.

Braidan: So, Juan, it’s all systems go for this plan on Martha, right?

Juan: I want to do it, yes. Who do you have?

Braidan: With me, you, Manfred and Lisette, that’s four. I think we can get Ebony, too, because she’ll want to send a hard player home. Manfred's working on her, so that’s five.

Juan: Okay, who don’t we have?

Braidan: Martha, obviously. And I’d say Doris and Amethyst are lost causes, so it really just comes down to Vaska and Artyom. What do you think they’re going to do?

Juan: I’m not sure if Vaska wants to keep you. From what I’ve heard, they were tight with Martha and they’re worried about things with the idol. You’re like a bull in a china shop when it comes to wanting people out.

Braidan: Yeah, I know. Vaska’s a threat, but I have so many other people to worry about before them. They shouldn’t be worried about me, especially when Martha’s around. What about Artyom? I can’t really get a read on him because he’s hard to understand.

Juan: He can understand you just fine, so don’t worry about communication barriers. He’ll likely go where Vaska goes, so I’m hoping I’ll be able to use my friendship with Vaska to convince them that you’re not a threat. Artyom seems to think Ebony is a good chance of voting with us, so I think he’d bring her over as well.

Braidan: Great, so Artyom and Vaska are the key votes. At least you’re with me. You’ll pick me over Vaska and Artyom, right? ‘Cause I hope like hell I haven’t been pushed out.

Juan: Yes, but I don’t want to think about that right now. Let’s just focus on getting rid of Martha.

Braidan: Awesome. I’ll go talk to Manfred and sort that out, and you work on Vaska and Artyom.

Juan: Done.

The two go their separate ways, with the camera cutting to Juan’s confessional.

JuanRivera My plan, as long as she doesn’t win immunity, is to send Martha home. I’ve heard stories about how she’s playing people and I don’t want to be involved in that. Even if I hadn’t, the other option is Braidan, who I wouldn’t be comfortable sending home first. It’s going to be hard work getting Vaska and Artyom to vote his way, because Braidan is very open about who he’s targeting, which makes him very untrustworthy to a lot of people. All he needs to do is keep his head low, stay on course with Martha’s vote and leave everything to me, but that just happens to be the thing he’s worst at. He can be very unreliable when he wants to be.
Juan Rivera

From Juan’s confessional, we are taken to Braidan as he talks with Manfred.

Manfred: Did you get Juan on board?

Braidan: Yeah, he’s with us. How did things go with Ebony?

Manfred: Ebony’s already telling Vaska not to trust Martha apparently, so I’d say she’s a lock.

Braidan: Yes! Come through, Ebony. I’m so glad no one’s dancing around this <expletive> trying to take out a weaker player first. I hope everyone else sees Martha for what she is, too.

Manfred: Lisette and I have done our best to talk to Vaska. They’re pretty <expletive> about the vote still, so if anyone’s gonna do us dirty, it’s them and Artyom.

Braidan: God, get over it. I’ve had people <expletive> me over, like, seven thousand times and I’m not having a sook, am I?

Manfred: Exactly, mate. If Vaska’s got any brains in there, they’ll realise Martha’s dirty.

Braidan: I’m so glad you and I decided to team up. I just wish it had been back when Ria wanted to get rid of Martha so we wouldn’t have this problem. At least we can fix it now.

Manfred: God, I hope so. Martha’s got a way of words so it’s gonna be hard. If this doesn’t go through, you’re <expletive> and I’m next.

Braidan: The best part about all this is that even if the vote goes wrong, I have an idol, so we can send her out for good.

Manfred: (frowns) When did you get your hands on one of those?

Braidan: That’s the best part. It was legit just sitting in an envelope on the merge feast table. I stashed it when I was getting food.

Manfred: Bugger off. (laughs) For real?

Braidan: Yeah, so Martha is, like, guaranteed to go home. And if I don’t need to use the idol, then that’s even better. We can choose the biggest threat and throw them out. You and Juan are legit the only people I have right now, so I really want to make a huge move once Martha’s gone and get some more people on my side.

Manfred: You really aren’t playing around, are you?

Braidan: Playing around is for toddlers. I can’t wait to send Martha out of here and start going all out!

Braidan walks off excitedly. The camera cuts to his confessional.

BraidanNash Everything’s coming together to get rid of Martha! Ebony’s on board- <expletive> Ebony who I’ve been trying to send home for ages- and Juan, Lisette and Manfred are, too. Ebony, Manfred and Lisette have all tried to get to Vaska, but they’re still a maybe. I hope Juan can pull through, but if not, I’ll play my idol and send her home. I don’t want to do that, though, because I really need a big move once Martha’s gone. I told Manfred about my idol because he’s my number one at the moment and we could use it together. I didn’t tell Juan because I don’t know yet if they’re closer with Vaska or me, and I don’t want that getting around. Manfred and I can take out one of the biggest threats here with this thing in my pocket, and I’m super excited.
Braidan Nash

The camera then cuts to Manfred as he’s frowning.

ManfredWestinghouse Here I am all set up to vote Martha out, and Braidan drops out of nowhere that he’s got an idol. Dickhead. Why would you tell me that when I tried to get Vaska out for the same thing? (laughs) At the moment, Braidan’s fixed on Martha, which is great. I’m probably in too deep to change course now, but <expletive>, I don't want Braidan with one of those things. There are two people I’d trust with one, and that’s me and Lisette. Braidan might not whack me personally with it, but he wants to make a move and could really <expletive> me around. I want that idol out of the game as soon as bloody possible. At this stage I wouldn’t care if we didn’t have the numbers just so he has to use it.
Manfred Westinghouse

Day 21- Immunity Challenge

Courtland: Alright, y'all, let's get this challenge underway!

The castaways walk in and stand on the mat.

Courtland: Ten people, one tribe! What is your tribe name?

Artyom: We are Blub Blub.

The answer takes a moment for Courtland to register. There is visible confusion on his face, before he laughs.

Courtland: Well, okay! You're Blub Blub. Either way, are y'all ready for the immunity challenge? There ain't no tribe immunity anymore, so I'll take that statue back for the last time.

Courtland takes the statue from Juan, puts it away, and uncovers the individual immunity necklace.

Courtland: From now on, unless otherwise specified, only one person is gettin' immunity, and if you've got this necklace, you don't have to worry about leavin' the game. The challenge today is gonna be in two rounds. For the first one, y'all are gonna line up behind that black line in the sand there and use a grappling hook to drag three of your coloured bags back behind the line. But you gotta be quick! Only the first four can move on to the final round. There, the lucky four will take a ball and navigate it through a table maze. The first person to reach the centre of the maze wins the first individual immunity of the season! Let's draw for colours and get started.

The castaways are awaiting Courtland's signal.

Courtland: For immunity, Survivors ready? GO!

Challenge Summary:

  • The first round of the challenge is fairly even, all things considered. Vaska gets out to an early lead, getting their first bag before anyone else. Braidan and Lisette get their bags shortly after, followed by Ebony, Juan and Amethyst. As Vaska gets their second bag, everybody else manages to drag one bag back.
  • Braidan gets his second bag, as does LisetteVaska manages to drag their third bag back before anyone else can get a second one, securing their place in the second round. Ebony, Juan and Amethyst all get their second bags while Braidan gets his third and takes the second spot.
  • While the four people on two bags are trying for the third, Lisette gets it first and takes the third spot in the next round. Artyom and Martha manage to get a second bag, joining the fight for the last bag.
  • Juan, Ebony and Amethyst have all been close to their last bag several times. In the end, the person to drag it over the line and take the last spot is Juan, who just gets in ahead of Amethyst.

  • The second round begins and Braidan struggles from the outset as he tries to go too fast around the holes in the maze and keeps getting sent back to the start. Juan also has some difficulties and is able to stay in the round, but is quickly coming down to Lisette and Vaska.
  • As the round continues on, Vaska has the lead, but Lisette is hot on their tail, working methodically through the maze.
  • The two get towards the hard part of the maze, with Vaska still ahead. Lisette is slowly working through things, and Vaska tries to turn the corner that will lead them to the win. They move slowly and try to push past, but the ball falls through the whole and they have to start again.
  • As Vaska races to catch back up, Lisette approaches the tight corner and expertly navigates it through. With only a small adjustment between her and immunity, she does this easily and secures the win.

Courtland: Immunity goes to Lisette!

Lisette smiles as applause meets her victory. Vaska goes over to give her a hug, which she reciprocates. Lisette then pumps her fist as Juan and Braidan look hopelessly at their maze tables. After a short timeskip, the castaways are back on their mat.

Courtland: Congratulations, Lisette! Come get your immunity.

Lisette walks over, her smile getting wider. Courtland places the necklace around her.

Courtland: Slow and steady wins the race! You proved that today, and because of it, you can walk into Tribal tonight knowin' you'll be comin' back. The rest of you don't have that luxury and will instead have to try and avoid being the next person voted out. I'll see you tonight.

The castaways leave the challenge area.
