This is the 2nd episode of Survivor: Montserrat

Previously On Survivor...[]

20 Americans from across the United States were flown to the island of Montserrat. Almost immediately, before they were even divided into tribes, they were thrust into their first challenge for immunity at their first tribal council for the first man and the first woman to finish, as well as reward for the first person to finish. Carson and Krystle won immunity, and Krystle won reward for her future tribe in the form of an extra bag of rice. They were then instructed to begin the tribe selection in the form of a schoolyard pick, starting with Krystle. The last man, and the last woman selected, being Pamela and Zachary were sent to Exile Island until the next immunity challenge.

The Garibaldi tribe immediately started bonding, especially Leila and Alex who's relationship almost immediately started blossoming into romance. However, this budding romance was quickly discovered by Vanessa who reported it to her alliance of Jackson and Alyssa and they vowed to keep the information to themselves.

Meanwhile on Exile Island, Pamela found the Hidden Immunity Idol after just having one clue. However, her tribe Soufrière would lose the immunity challenge sending Pamela to tribal council and putting her in danger.

However, the vote ultimately came down to Isabel for her allegiance with Lloyd who was deemed a snake, or Ella for her weakness in challenges with Pamela, Jason, and Derek being the swing votes. In the end, they decided to eliminate Isabel and she would become the first person voted out of the game.

19 are left; who will be voted out tonight.

Challenges[]

Reward Challenge: Getting Barreled
Both tribes will race out into a field to collect ten tribe colored barrels. Once all ten barrels are retrieved, they must be arranged on individual platforms. Then one person at a time from each tribe will toss sand bags at the barrels with the goal of landing a sand bag on top of each barrel. First tribe to get a sandbag on top of all ten of their barrels wins.
Reward: Fishing gear
Winners: Garibaldi

Immunity Challenge: Smash and Grab
Five castaways are chosen to swim, one at a time, to a platform, grab a club, and leap off the platform to smash a tile that releases a key. The swimmer then retrieves the key and swims back to shore with it, allowing the next tribe mate to go out. Once the five keys are collected, another castaway uses the keys to open a locked box containing a set of puzzle pieces that form a map of Montserrat. Three other castaways put the puzzle together.
Winners: Soufrière

Story[]

Night 3[]

Footage shows the Soufrière tribe arriving back at camp from tribal council. Once they all set their torches down and start sitting in front or in the shelter, Deanne goes off on Derek.

Deanne: What the f*** was that last night, Derek?!?!

Derek: What are you talking about?

Deanne: You know exactly what I’m talking about! Don’t give me that bull-s***! You gave Lloyd and I your word that not only were you going to vote for Ella last night; BUT you also told us that you were going to MAKE SURE that Jason and Pamela did the same!

Derek: I never said that!

Lloyd then chimes in to stand up for his ally, Deanne.

Lloyd: Derek, you did. Enough with your lies already!

But Deanne isn’t just mad at Derek. She also starts going off on Lloyd. Derek is just sitting on the edge of the shelter and watching them. The rest of the tribe is also watching them from in or around the shelter.

Deanne: And you! Don’t think you’re off the hook with me Lloyd! I didn’t trust Derek from the moment I saw him, but it was because of YOU that I set my feelings aside! It was YOU that guaranteed me that he was with us!

Lloyd: Well you know what? He screwed us both! He guaranteed me he was with us, and I trusted him.

Lloyd then turns to Derek…

Lloyd: Derek, you made a fool of me, and you’re going to regret it!

Deanne: Derek, you will be sorry you ever messed with me. I will make sure of it!

As soon as we got back to camp after tribal, both Deanne and Lloyd just go off on me for the move I made last night to vote for Isabel. Honestly, I don’t regret it. Lloyd was obviously tight with her, and now he and Deanne are both making themselves look like total fools. It’s only a matter of time before they both get their torches snuffed at this rate.

Derek McLeod

Derek

What Deanne and Lloyd did to Derek by the shelter after tribal is exactly the reason I’m glad I made the move to vote for Isabel last night. I gave Kelly-Ann specifically, my word that I would write Isabel’s name down and I just knew that breaking my word on the first vote would be Survivor suicide. It’s clear that Derek’s word now means nothing; Deanne and Lloyd made sure of it.

Day 4[]

SOUFRIÈRE:

After the intro plays, footage shows Derek trying to make fire with the flint the next morning. It then shows Deanne waking up and walking over to him after looking at the sky.

Deanne: Are you going to make sure that is covered properly? It looks like it might rain today.

Derek sits up and turns to face Deanne.

Derek: You know what? Are you going to criticize everything I do?

Deanne: Come on, don’t be like that. Are you 40 or 4?

Derek just turns back to trying to start the fire, but Deanne keeps going.

Deanne: You know for a fact that the only other thing that I have ever criticized you on was the fact that you betrayed my trust by voting for Isabel last night.

Derek (still looking at the ground trying to start the fire): What’s the big deal? You said last night I never had your trust to begin with.

Deanne: No, I said that Lloyd convinced me to trust you, and you betrayed that.

Derek (still not looking at Deanne, mutters to himself): Bitch.

Deanne: What did you just call me?

Derek stands up and looks right at Deanne.

Derek: B-I-T-C-H… BITCH!

Deanne: I’d rather be a bitch than a liar.

Derek just shakes his head and goes back to working on the fire. Meanwhile, Carson hears the commotion and goes over to them. He then sees Derek working on the fire.

Carson: Whoa whoa whoa Derek, that’s too much magnesium off of the flint already! You’re going to use it all up before a week ends at this rate!

Carson then grabs the flint from Derek and starts the fire in a few seconds. Deanne and Carson both kneel down to nurture the flame, while Derek stands up and crosses his arms. After a little while, Carson and Deanne both stand up, Deanne starts walking away and Carson turns to Derek.

Carson: For next time, we always need to make sure the fire is properly covered in case it starts raining.

Derek rolls his eyes and walks away from Carson. At the same time, while Deanne is walking away from the two of them, she heard Carson warn Derek about covering the fire and smirked.

I heard the entire argument this morning between Deanne and Derek. As far as I’m concerned, let them fight. In fact, I’ll try to make them hate each other as much as I can. Neither of them is really in with my alliance, which includes: me, Kelly-Ann, Doug, Ella, Jason, and Pamela to an extent. So the fact that Deanne and Derek are arguing is only beneficial for me in this game at this moment. It keeps the target on them and off of my alliance.

GARIBALDI:

Footage shows Jackson cooking rice on the fire while the rest of the tribe, minus Leila and Alex, are hanging out in or around the shelter. Zachary is the only one sleeping.

Krystle: Just look at that (pointing at Zachary); you’d think that having started the game on Exile he’d at least try to make himself useful around here.

Joan: Honestly, this tells me that he doesn’t want to be here, nor does he deserve to be. He’s not putting in the effort like the rest of us are.

Braiden: Or, it might just be saying that he feels comfortable because he has the idol.

Jackson: Possible, I guess. You never know.

Alyssa: He seemed almost anti-social from day 1. This might just be who he is. You could be right though, Braiden.

Krystle: All I know is that I’m sick of his laziness, and his attitude. At least the rest of us on this tribe are putting in some effort to survive out here.

Zachary is a serious enigma on this tribe right now. I have serious suspicions that he found the idol on Exile. But then again, when you compare his behaviour today to his behaviour on day 1, there’s not much of a difference. So nobody really knows what to make of him at the moment.

Braiden McAdam

Braiden

Leila and Alex return to the shelter with some fruit for the tribe just as Jackson is finishes up with cooking the rice. They announce that they brought the fruit just as they set it down by a tree near the shelter. Leila then helps Jackson distribute the rice to everybody as Zachary wakes up.

Alex: Oh look everyone, Sleeping Beauty is awake.

Zachary: F*** off, man.

Leila (as she hands Zachary his portion of rice): Oh come on, don’t be like that.

Zachary: That’s right, defend your boyfriend.

As Zachary says this, the entire tribe stops what they’re doing and stares at Leila and Alex. After a little while, Alyssa does a face palm before looking back at them. Leila then replies.

Leila: He’s not my boyfriend.

Zachary: Of course, that’s what they all say.

Alex: We’re not boyfriend and girlfriend. My girlfriend, Jessica, is at home in California.

There is an awkward silence at the camp as Leila looks at Alex. She then mouths the words “What the f***?” so that only Alex can see. Vanessa then speaks up.

Vanessa: So… lovely weather we’re having today isn’t it?

Some members of the tribe chuckle at Vanessa’s comment. Leila and Jackson finish handing out the rice and the tribe starts eating. The camera then cuts to Alyssa’s confessional.

So, thanks to Zachary, the entire tribe now officially knows about Leila and Alex’s little relationship. I mean, they were starting to make it kind of obvious, hence even Zachary knowing about it, but still. I was hoping that was something Jackson, Vanessa, and I could keep between us for a while. Now, as I feared, they’re trying to back track. Damn.

Alyssa Watson

Alyssa

The footage then shows Leila confronting Alex in the woods.

Leila: What was that back there? You didn’t tell me you had a girlfriend?

Alex: I did it to save both our asses. I don’t have a girlfriend back home; I didn’t know what else to say.

Leila: You do know that makes me worried right? How many other lies have you told since we’ve been here?

Alex: None, I swear to God. But we can’t let the tribe know we’re a couple. We can align with each other and everything, but we can’t act like we’re as close to each other as we are. We don’t want them labeling us as Rob and Amber or something; it’ll put a huge target on our backs.

Leila: You could have given me some forewarning though that if someone ever mentioned us being a couple that you would tell a story about some fake girlfriend.

Alex: I’m sorry Leila; I didn’t think that far ahead.

Leila: Obviously.

Alex: Come on, you know I trust you 100%. Are we still good?

Leila: I guess, just don’t do that to me again.

Alex: Deal.

As soon as Zachary called me Leila’s “boyfriend” I realized we made our partnership too obvious. The story I told about my “girlfriend” back home was made up, but I had to do something to stop the target on our backs from growing. Hopefully it works (crosses fingers).

Alex Gregoire

Alex

With that story about the fake girlfriend, Alex is starting to worry me. I’m really starting to have feelings for him, but I just hope he doesn’t tell anymore lies. If I find out I can’t trust him, I don’t know what I’m going to do.

Leila Mostyn

Leila

The footage now shows scenes of the reward challenge. The camera then turns to Jeff Probst.

Jeff Probst: Come on in guys!

The camera then shows Garibaldi entering the challenge area with Jackson carrying the tribe flag. The camera then turns to Soufrière entering the challenge area with Carson carrying the tribe flag.

Jeff Probst: Garibaldi, get your first look at the new Soufrière tribe. Isabel voted out at the last tribal council.

Jeff Probst then explains the reward challenge dubbed Getting Barreled. He then explains that the reward for winning the challenge is fishing gear. He also explains that the winning tribe will send one member of the losing tribe to Exile Island and that the person they choose will pick one member of the winning tribe to join them. He then asks who from Garibaldi was going to sit out of the challenge. After Garibaldi chose Vanessa to sit out, Jeff then gives them a minute to strategize before they get started.

Jeff Probst: Survivors ready… GO! Much like the last challenge, the Garibaldi tribe quickly established a lead against the Soufrière tribe. However this time, the Soufrière tribe was clearly much more prepared for the challenge, thus never allowing Garibaldi’s lead to have any real substance. Once they reached the portion of the challenge in which they were throwing sandbags onto the barrels though, things changed. The Soufrière tribe really started to struggle. Garibaldi however, missed a few sandbags in the beginning, but got the hang of the challenge. This allowed them to pull further ahead of Soufrière and keep it until the end.

Jeff Probst: Garibaldi wins reward!

The camera shows the Garibaldi tribe celebrating their win, followed by a disappointed Soufrière tribe. It then cuts to both tribes standing on their mats with Jeff Probst in front of them.

Jeff Probst: Garibaldi, congratulations; you now have one more order of business. Who from Soufrière is going to Exile Island?

Krystle: We think we are going to send Jason to Exile Island.

Jeff Probst: Alright, come on over Jason.

The camera shows Jason walking towards Jeff Probst.

Jeff Probst: Jason, it is now your decision. Who from Garibaldi do you want to join you on Exile?

Jason: I’m going to take Krystle.

Krystle: Damn.

Krystle then walks over to Jason and Jeff Probst.

Jeff Probst: Jason and Krystle are heading to Exile Island. They will return to the game in time for the next immunity challenge. Which one of you guys want the map?

Krystle: I’ll take it, I guess.

Jeff Probst: There you go, Krystle, you guys can head on out.

Once Jason and Krystle leave, Jeff Probst turns to the two tribes.

Jeff Probst: Congratulations Garibaldi, you have won this set of fishing supplies. Come grab it, and your stuff, and head on back to camp.

Once Garibaldi leaves, Jeff Probst turns to Soufrière.

Jeff Probst: Soufrière, unfortunately, I’ve got nothing for you. Grab your stuff and head on back to camp.

I chose Krystle to come with me to Exile because she seems like she’s probably Garibaldi’s leader. Hopefully going to Exile for a couple days will weaken her, and her tribe, a little bit. My tribe needs to start winning challenges, it’s that simple.

Jason Drysdale

Jason

EXILE ISLAND:

Footage shows Jason and Krystle arriving on Exile Island. They then approach the same podium with a box on it that Pamela and Zachary saw last week. They open it, and read the first clue to the Hidden Immunity Idol to themselves. Then they both read the second clue to themselves. Krystle then makes a puzzled look and says the clue out loud.

Krystle (reading the clue): Rock my world?

Jason: I guess the idol is near a rock then.

Krystle: No s***. I’m just surprised that’s all the second clue says.

Krystle’s attitude towards me on Exile was very telling. She has some sort of power in this game right now, or at least she thinks she does. She showed no interest in working with me and just stayed to herself the whole time. That’s fine as far as I’m concerned. I don’t need her right now. I’m fine just looking for the idol with the two clues that we were given.

Day 5[]

SOUFRIÈRE:

Footage shows Pamela helping Carson and Kelly-Ann gather firewood. It then cuts to a confessional from Pamela.

I’m tight with Jason, and I have the idol, but I still started my game on Exile Island. I need to build trust with these people. Carson and Kelly-Ann also seem like they would be the best ones to approach right now. If I can establish trust with them, I should be okay for a while.

Pamela Roslyn

Pamela

Pamela is then shown pleading her case to Carson and Kelly-Ann as they gather firewood.

Pamela: The way I see it is that Doug and Ella are tight; they are never going to turn on each other. I mean, I’m fine going to the top six with them, but I want to go as far as I can like the two of you do. So I was just wondering if you guys would even consider bringing me to the final three or four over Doug and Ella.

Kelly-Ann: You know what Pam; it’s still very early in the game, so I don’t want to make any promises right now. That being said though, I wouldn’t want to get to the final four with Doug and Ella for the reasons you mentioned.

Pamela: I understand, I just want you guys to know you have my loyalty. I’m not so tight with Jason that I wouldn’t be willing to vote him out either. I will stick with you guys all the way.

Carson: That’s nice to hear.

Pamela: Just so you guys know to, neither Jason nor I are with Derek at all. He simply said he’d do what we were doing at tribal, but we didn’t make any promises to him.

Kelly-Ann: Good. Derek is crazy; he’s proving to be unpredictable in this game. His constant fighting with Deanne now isn’t making things any better for our tribe either.

Carson: They hate each other. But to be fair, Deanne is starting most, if not all of their arguments.

Pamela: She’s trying to turn everyone against him. But if what she’s saying is true, and I think it is; Derek is the one we need to keep our eyes on.

Kelly-Ann: We need to keep our eyes on all of them. Clearly right now, Deanne and Derek are trying to sabotage each others games. Lloyd I think is just trying to get away from the situation. I can sense that Lloyd will be the first one to flip.

Carson: You just have this thing against Lloyd, don’t you?

Kelly-Ann: I don’t trust him. He reminds me of Ace from Survivor: Gabon, just without the accent. I think he’s a con artist.

Pamela: I think Deanne or Derek should go before Lloyd though, they’re fighting is going to bring down this whole tribe. I don’t want Soufrière to pull an Ulong and have us be down to just one person left at the merge.

Kelly-Ann: I think we should wait until after the next immunity challenge to determine that.

Carson: Yeah, if we win, then their fighting isn’t that big a deal… well, it is but it isn’t.

Pamela: I see what you mean. Back to my original point though, would you guys be willing to bring me full on into this alliance since I’m not with Derek?

Kelly-Ann: I think we can trust you… as much as you can trust a person in this game.

Pamela then shakes hands with Carson and Kelly-Ann.

Clearly, Pamela is doing what she can to assimilate herself into our tribe. She’s also doing everything she can to sever any ties she has ties with Derek, which is a good move for her right now. She hasn’t gained my full trust yet; but, her promising to stick close to me gives me an opportunity to watch her like a hawk. That’s something I have no problems doing right now.

Kelly-Ann Vnuk

Kelly-Ann

Along the beach, Lloyd is talking with Doug and Ella.

My game is seriously messed up right now. I need to do anything I can to gain some sort of foothold in this game since Derek lied to me and voted Isabel out. If I have to throw both him and Deanne under the bus, I don’t care. I’m desperate.

Lloyd Poulin

Lloyd

Lloyd: Deanne and I trusted Derek 100%, you know. I just want you guys to know that Derek can’t be trusted.

Doug: Yeah, definitely.

Lloyd: What’s worse is that now, Deanne and Derek are fighting over stupid things. It’s almost like little children fighting over “Your hand touched my hand.” It’s bringing down the tribe.

Ella: I know, their fighting has gotten worse rather than better in the past couple days.

Lloyd: Deanne has been really paranoid about Derek from day one. Now that she has a real reason not to trust him, she’s not going to stop until he’s gone. I think that even if Derek was willing to let bygones be bygones, she wouldn’t be. I don’t know what to do. If you guys want to vote out Derek or Deanne next, let me know so I can write the appropriate name down. I’m done with this, and them. I want you guys to know that. I will stick with the two of you all the way.

Doug: Okay, sounds good.

Lloyd is starting to get really desperate right now. I mean, not only did he throw Derek under the bus to Doug and I, but Deanne as well. Here I thought Deanne was his ally. Desperation can make people do wild and crazy things in this game. At least Deanne and Derek are predictable, even though the fact that they hate each other is scary. So I don’t know now, do we stick with the devils that we know, being Deanne and Derek, or the devil we don’t know, being Lloyd? It’s tough.

Ella Sing

Ella

I would say I feel bad for Lloyd; but no, I really don’t. According to both him and Deanne, it was Lloyd’s idea to bring Derek into his alliance. Now he’s been screwed, and he’s desperate to get back in the game. As far as I’m concerned, he made his bed, now he has to lay in it. If he goes home next, so be it.

Doug Johnson

Doug

GARIBALDI:

Footage shows Vanessa and Alyssa walking through the woods, just simply getting to know each other better as they start looking for something to eat.

Vanessa is a very nice and sweet girl. She is so bubbly and full of energy and I think she is a very positive asset to our tribe, and to my alliance. I don’t see her as a threat either. Yeah, everyone likes her, except maybe negative Zachary, but she will never win an immunity challenge, so if need be, I can get rid of her whenever I choose.

Alyssa Watson

Alyssa

Suddenly, the two women hear some rustling deeper in the woods. Vanessa looks, and sees Alex and Leila kissing each other, completely oblivious to what’s around them. Vanessa taps Alyssa’s shoulder and signals her to look as well. Alyssa and Vanessa then sneak away before discussing the issue.

Alyssa: I can’t believe it. How stupid can those two be; especially after Zachary called them out yesterday! I thought Alex had a “girlfriend”. Either that was a lie, or someone’s a cheater.

Vanessa: I don’t know girl? I just hope we get invites to Alex and Leila’s wedding. I’ve always wanted to be a bridesmaid.

Alyssa just starts laughing at Vanessa’s comment, which causes Vanessa to start laughing to,

Vanessa: Your laugh is contagious.

Alyssa: In all seriousness though, we should let Jackson know that Alex and Leila are back at it. There is no way now that they can hide the fact they are a couple in this game, and that they will never vote for each other; especially if they keep playing “tonsil tennis” with each other.

Vanessa: I wonder if they’ve scored yet.

Alyssa(chuckling): At this rate, they probably will soon.

Alyssa and Vanessa both start laughing. They are then shown head back towards camp before the camera cuts to Vanessa’s confessional.

Clearly Alex and Leila are putting targets on their backs by making out around here. I guess my fairy dust seems to be working. I have two people for sure that trust me fully in Alyssa and Jackson and I am responsible for putting targets on Alex and Leila’s backs that they are oblivious to! I love it!

Vanessa Saluk

Vanessa

Alyssa and Vanessa head back to the beach as Jackson was fishing. They see him coming back to shore with a fish and wave him over. They then explain to Jackson what they saw involving Alex and Leila.

Jackson: I can’t believe it. How can people be so stupid?

Alyssa: I don’t know, but I think it’s clear what needs to happen if we lose the challenge.

Vanessa: What’s that?

Alyssa: Either Joan or Leila will have to go. Joan is the weak old lady, but Leila is clearly becoming very intimate with Alex. We can bring Zachary in and use him as a shield for the alliance too. Zachary may be anti-social, but I don’t think he’s stupid. He could be a good asset for us.

Jackson: What if he has the idol? Braiden seems to think he does. That might make him a little dangerous to keep around.

Alyssa: Anybody here can have the idol, it might be at camp. Joan is constantly doing something, maybe she has it. For all we know, Exile Island just has the clue. Suspecting that someone has the idol shouldn’t stop us from voting for them or bringing them into the alliance. We just need to be wary of it and ensure our votes don’t get voided, sending one of us home.

Vanessa: So I guess that makes Leila our safest vote if we lose the immunity challenge tomorrow.

Alyssa: If that’s what you guys feel most comfortable with, we can do that. If we leak this information to the right people and ensure the two of them can’t back track like they did last time, we should be able to send her home.

Vanessa: If we lose the challenge, and we do vote Leila out tomorrow, do you guys think she will still let me be a bridesmaid at her and Alex’s wedding?

The three of them all laugh at Vanessa’s comment before heading back to camp. The camera then cuts to Jackson’s confessional.

What’s going on between Leila and Alex seems just stupid to me. Zachary called them out yesterday because of how close they were getting, and they are still back at it. I was suspecting that they were kicking their relationship up a notch, but I now that I have confirmation of that. One last thing, Jessica, if you even exist, dump Alex’s ass; once a cheater, always a cheater, trust me.

Jackson Yuskow

Day 6[]

SOUFRIÈRE:

Footage shows Deanne and Ella retrieving tree mail for the Soufrière tribe. Prior to taking the note out of the basket, Deanne says to her…

Deanne: I know that my behaviour over the last couple days has made me seem like an immature little brat. I’m really sorry if you feel like I’m bringing down the tribe. I’m just so mad at Derek for screwing up my game like he has.

Ella: Don’t beat yourself up. Yes your fighting over the past few days has been immature; but, my mom always said that it takes two to fight when my sister and I were kids. That makes Derek equally at fault. Besides, at least you are woman enough to apologize; Derek hasn’t even acknowledged the issue at all.

Deanne: I guess.

Ella: Look at it this way too, if you wouldn’t have called him out, we would have no idea how untrustworthy he is.

Deanne: Yeah; honestly, I don’t think Derek’s even a physiotherapist as he claims to be. I’ve had this weird vibe from him since before our tribes were even picked. Now, my fears are being confirmed.

Ella: Well, your suspicions of his occupation really don’t matter that much at this point in the grand scheme of things. You’ve already successfully proven that Derek is untrustworthy. Plus, we have no proof that he is or isn’t in the career that he claims to be in. Trust me on this Deanne, everything that you have said to me will be taken into consideration if we go to tribal tonight.

Deanne: Okay, thanks. Can I have a quick hug?

Ella: Sure.

Deanne and Ella hug each other for a moment. The camera then cuts to Ella’s confessional.

I think Deanne’s apology for her and Derek fighting was sincere to a point. Deanne is sorry for acting childish with Derek, especially since she has kids at home, as well as the fact that it’s putting her on the chopping block. I wonder if she would apologize if she didn’t think she could be going home next. Who knows though? Besides, it’s not me going home next, so I’m not going to care too much about it.

Ella Sing

Ella

They then take the tree mail out of the basket and examine it before heading back to the tribe and announcing that they have tree mail. The entire Soufrière tribe then gathers around for tree mail to be read.

The camera then shows the Garibaldi tribe reading the tree mail together and trying to guess what the immunity challenge is.

The footage then shows scenes of the next immunity challenge. The camera then turns to Jeff Probst.

Jeff Probst: Come on in guys!

The camera turns to the two tribes; first Soufrière, then Garibaldi, entering the challenge arena. Derek and Alex are carrying the flags for their respective tribes. After the flags have been put back in their holders, the camera turns back to Jeff.

Jeff Probst: We will now bring in Jason and Krystle returning from Exile Island.

Krystle and Jason are then shown walking into the challenge arena. Both castaways are welcomed by their tribes before the camera turns back to Jeff Probst.

Jeff Probst: Are you guys ready to get to your next immunity challenge?

All 19 castaways: Yeah!

Jeff Probst: Alright, first things first. I need to take back the idol, Ryan.

Jeff Probst walks over to Ryan to grab the immunity idol.

Braiden: We’ll get it back, Jeff.

Jeff Probst: Oh really?

Jeff Probst then puts the immunity idol back on its perch and turns to face the castaways; he then explains the challenge, dubbed Smash and Grab. He then asks Garibaldi who would like to sit out. He then reminds them that since Vanessa sat out at the reward challenge, she can’t sit out of the immunity challenge.

Joan: I’ll sit this one out, Jeff.

Jeff Probst: Alright, Joan is sitting out; take a spot on the sit-out bench. Everyone else, I’ll give you a minute to strategize, and then we’ll get started.'

The camera then turns to the two tribes ready to begin the challenge.

Jeff Probst: Survivors ready… GO!

The two tribes get off to quick starts. For the third challenge in a row now however, Garibaldi pulls ahead of Soufrière at the beginning of the challenge. This time however, Soufrière manages to pull ahead of Garibaldi near the beginning of the challenge. Garibaldi however, keeps things tight and the two tribes manage to get to the puzzle portion of the challenge around the same time. Both tribes have some troubles with the puzzle at the beginning but eventually get the hang of it. At the end of it though, it was Soufrière that managed to finish the puzzle first for the win.

Jeff Probst: Soufrière wins immunity!

The Soufrière tribe start celebrating their challenge win. There is clearly relief among many members of the tribe that they did not lose a third straight challenge to Garibaldi. The camera then shows the two tribes standing on their mats facing Jeff Probst.

Jeff Probst: Soufrière, congratulations. Nobody from your tribe is going home tonight.

Jeff Probst hands the immunity idol to Pamela before heading back in front of both tribes.

Jeff Probst: Soufrière, grab your stuff and head back to camp. Enjoy the afternoon.

After the Soufrière tribe leaves, Jeff Probst then turns to the Garibaldi tribe.

Jeff Probst: Garibaldi, unfortunately for you, it’s a different story. Somebody from your tribe will become the second person voted out of Survivor: Montserrat. You have the afternoon to figure out who it’s going to be. Grab your stuff and head back to camp, see you tonight at tribal.

The Garibaldi tribe starts grabbing their stuff and heading back to camp. The camera then cuts to a confessional from Ryan.

Tribal council is going to be really interesting tonight. Krystle has immunity, there don’t seem to be any set alliances other than Krystle, Braiden, and myself, and four people being Leila, Alex, Joan, and Zachary all have good reasons to possibly get voted out tonight. Who knows what’s going to happen? I think I’m in a good position, so I’m excited right now.

Ryan Kulikowski

Ryan

SOUFRIÈRE:

Footage shows the Soufrière tribe returning from tribal council celebrating their first challenge win. It then shows the tribe hanging out in or around the shelter before cutting to a confessional from Deanne.

I am really relieved that we won the immunity challenge today. I felt that my head was on the chopping block after what has been going on the past couple of days between Derek and me. I know I still need to work to keep myself here, but for now at least, I can relax a little bit.

Deanne Arbuthnot

Deanne

The camera then shows Pamela and Jason talking in the woods.

Pamela: I need to tell you something; but first off, I want to apologize for not telling you before you were sent to Exile.

Jason: Well, what is it?

Pamela: I have the Hidden Immunity Idol.

Jason: Are you serious?

Pamela: Yes.

Pamela then reaches into her sock and pulls out the Hidden Immunity Idol to show to Jason.

Jason: Oh my gosh. If only I would have known you had this before I was sent to Exile.

Pamela: I know and I’m sorry; but while you were gone, I decided I should tell one person, and you are the one I trust the most. I think you are the reason I was saved last tribal. Jason, we could use this to our advantage.

Jason: Okay, thank you for telling me.

Pamela puts the idol back in her sock and the two of them start to head back to camp. They then run into Kelly-Ann on their way back.

Kelly-Ann: Hey guys, I’m just going for a walk.

Pamela: Okay.

The three of them continue walking and the camera then cuts to Pamela’s confessional.

I decided to tell Jason about the idol because I trust him the most. I think that if I show someone, especially someone like Jason, that I trust them fully, they will be more likely to honor that. I know it’s always a risk when you tell someone about the idol, but my biggest worry is that Kelly-Ann heard more of that conversation than she should have.

Pamela Roslyn

Pamela

I didn’t quite hear what Pamela and Jason were talking about; I got there too late. But just based on what the secretive nature of their conversation appeared to be, my guess is that Jason revealed to Pamela that he has the idol or vice versa. So now, my goal just needs to be building trust with both of them. The idol is a dangerous thing in this game, so I just need to keep the two of them on my side.

GARIBALDI:

Footage shows the Garibaldi tribe returning from the immunity challenge. It then cuts to a scene where Krystle, Zachary, Braiden and Ryan are by the beach. Braiden just went into the water with the spear looking to catch some fish. Krystle then decides that it is a good time to confront Zachary on his work ethic at camp.

Krystle: You know Zachary; I think we would all like it if you put some more effort into helping out at camp. The rest of us are out here trying to survive, and you sleep most of the day.

Zachary: Am I sleeping now?

Krystle: Well no.

Zachary: Well okay then. What the f*** do you want from me?

Krystle: To help out more around here so you can prove your worth to this tribe. Why don’t you go help Braiden catch fish or something?

Zachary: You don’t think I’m worth anything to the tribe?

Ryan (seeing that the situation is starting to get heated): That’s not what she’s saying at all. You just don’t do as much as the rest of us do around here. We would like you to help out more.

Zachary: Well that’s not what came out of her f***ing mouth, was it?

Krystle: Actually Zachary, that’s exactly what I said. Ryan just said it nicer than I did.

Zachary: So you’re both attacking me now. I didn’t come on this f***ing show to be attacked.

Ryan: We’re not attacking you; don’t be like that, come on.

Zachary: Why don’t you two just leave okay? You (pointing at Ryan) can go f*** your dude and you (pointing at Krystle) can go f*** your chick. Everyone will be happy. Nobody deserves to be attacked.

Zachary then leaves to go back towards camp. As he leaves, Krystle mutters something to herself.

Krystle (muttering): Whatever, numb-nuts.

Ryan heard her muttering something, not sure what, he asked Krystle about it.

Ryan: What was that you said?

Krystle: I said numb-nuts. His new name is numb-nuts with me.

Ryan: Wow.

Krystle: And if you know me at all, you would know that if there weren’t rules against that sort of thing in this game, that name would be taken quite literally.

Just as Krystle says this, Braiden comes back to shore with a fish on the spear he was using. Krystle then tells him…

Krystle: Zachary goes home tonight, no questions. In fact, he’s not Zachary any more. To me, he is now numb-nuts.

Braiden thinks about Zachary’s new nickname for a minute before he starts chuckling. He then asks…

Braiden: Why? What happened?

Ryan: Krystle simply asked him to start helping out more around camp. He then felt attacked and stormed off.

Braiden: What do you mean he “felt attacked”?

Krystle: That’s what numb-nuts said. He said Ryan and I were attacking him.

Braiden then shakes his head.

Braiden: Yeah, at this point, I’d rather keep Joan around. Even if his attitude isn’t bringing down the tribe directly, he doesn’t deserve to be here if he’s going to act like that.

Ryan: But didn’t you say that he might just feel comfortable because he has the idol?

Braiden: That may be, but I think we can be sure that Joan is probably the only other person that will get votes tonight. If she goes home because of an idol, it wouldn’t be a big deal. At least if that happens, the idol will be gone.

Krystle: Okay, it’s settled then, we’re voting for numb-nuts. Let’s go let the others know.

So I leave to go fishing, just for a little bit, and I apparently miss a whole big kafuffle between Ryan, Krystle, and Zachary, who is apparently now “numb-nuts” (chuckling). Any man should know, that name is painful, especially coming from Krystle because you just know that she means it literally. But I don’t care anymore. Numb-nuts is getting my vote tonight. He just doesn’t deserve to be here.

Braiden McAdam

Braiden

I don’t give a s*** anymore whether or not numb-nuts has the idol. He’s getting my vote tonight and I will do what I can to make sure he goes home. You don’t come on Survivor if you’re lazy and anti-social. You just don’t.

Krystle Jennings

Krystle

Footage now shows Ryan talking with Joan in the woods.

Ryan: You don’t have to go home tonight, Joan. All you have to do is vote for Zachary. He’s being a real jerk and his laziness is really starting to get on people’s nerves.

Joan: This is what I’ve been saying the whole time he’s been on our tribe.

Ryan: Well, Zachary has proven you to be right. I really don’t think he deserves to be here. Heck, when Krystle and I asked him to start helping out more around camp; he said we were attacking him!

Joan just shakes her head.

Joan: I’m starting to think that Zachary just hates people. I don’t know why he’s even here. I swear, if we asked him whether or not he hates people; he’ll probably quote serial killer Carl Panzram and say (doing her best impersonation of Zachary) “I wish the human race had one neck so I could put my hands around it.” or something like that.

Ryan is taken aback by Joan’s comment.

Ryan: Did you just compare one of our tribe members to a serial killer?

Joan: Yeah so, what’s your point?

Ryan and Joan just start laughing.

Ryan: Well, we should get back and spread the word that Zachary is going home tonight. We just can’t let Zachary catch wind of it.

Joan: That shouldn’t be too hard. Thank you.

Ryan and Joan start heading back to camp. The camera then cuts to Joan’s confessional.

I’m really worried about the possibility that I could go home tonight. It seems like my tribe is starting to grasp the fact that Zachary doesn’t deserve to be here. I’m doing everything I can to save myself; but, I won’t believe that I’m safe until I see someone else’s torch getting snuffed; preferably Zachary’s.

Joan Zdrill

Joan

In another part of the camp, Alyssa, Vanessa, Jackson, and Zachary are discussing the upcoming vote.

Alyssa: Zachary, you need to watch yourself around here. People like Krystle, Ryan, and Braiden are putting a giant target on your back because they don’t think you do enough work around here.

Zachary: So they are still attacking me? Just great.

Vanessa: Yeah, the three of them, as well as Joan, are campaigning against you. They want Joan to stay because she is more “deserving.” I don’t necessarily believe that, but that’s what they’re saying.

Zachary: So what are we going to do then? That old hag, Joan needs to go! She’s clearly the weakest one out here!

Jackson: We were actually thinking of voting Leila out, because of her relationship with Alex.

Zachary: Are the two of them at it again?

Vanessa: Yeah, Alyssa and I caught them playing “tonsil tennis” in the woods yesterday.

Alyssa: The problem now is that we don’t have the numbers to pull it off. Krystle, Joan, Braiden, and Ryan are going to be voting for you Zachary, I’m sure of it. They are the ones spreading the word to get you out. But Leila and Alex won’t vote for themselves.

Vanessa: We might be able to pull off getting rid of Joan though… that is if we can get the lovebirds, Leila and Alex on our side.

Zachary: We should be able to… that is if they are smart enough to understand that we need to vote out the weak in order to keep winning challenges.

Jackson: I’m confident that we can.

So I’m on the chopping block tonight. Surprise, surprise; the way my game’s been going, it doesn’t shock me. For some reason, these people have had some vendetta against me from day one. At least I have three people with me that understand the concept of this game. One of them may be that annoying, happy girl, Vanessa; but hey, as long as Joan goes home and I stay, I’m willing to put up with her for a couple more days.

Zachary Friesen

Zachary

I’m beginning to think that Zachary really doesn’t like me. I think he’s allergic to my fairy dust and positive energy. Regardless though, his attitude makes him the perfect shield for my alliance with Alyssa and Jackson because he will always be the target for elimination rather than us. As long as we can convince Leila and Alex to vote with us and get rid of that adorable grandmother named Joan, we will be smooth sailing to day 39.

Vanessa Saluk

Vanessa

Footage now shows Alyssa, Jackson and Vanessa talking with Leila and Alex in the water.

Alyssa: The way I see it is that Zachary will always be up for elimination because he’s an ass. Joan on the other hand is weak in challenges, and everyone likes her. Why keep someone like that around?

Leila: I definitely see your point. I just think that Joan is more deserving to stay here than Zachary.

Alex: Then again, I don’t think the vote should necessarily be about who “deserves” to be here in this game. All of us are here playing a game for a million dollars. Joan is playing one way, Zachary’s playing another. We can say that we don’t like a particular person or how they’re playing the game; but, at the end of the day, we need to do what will get us to the end.

Jackson: That’s exactly our point.

Vanessa: Yeah, if the five of us stick together, we can run this game because Zachary will be our shield. He will absorb all of the bullets for our alliance. He will always be the target.

Leila: I don’t know though, we’ll have to see. I don’t want to make any promises this early. Zachary just really rubs me the wrong way.

Alyssa: I understand. I just want you guys to take into consideration, not only eliminating Joan, but working with the three of us long term. Forget Zachary, he’ll just be there as an extra vote for us.

Alex: We definitely will. You guys are the only ones that have promised us any sort of alliance so far, so we will take that into consideration. I mean, Braiden has come to us saying that him, Joan, Krystle, and Ryan are voting for Zachary for sure and asked us to vote with them, but that’s not a real alliance. So you guys have definitely given us something to consider.

It is a tough decision as to whether or not we should vote for Joan or Zachary tonight. Part of me wants Zachary gone not just for being anti-social, but also for outing Alex and I as a couple and forcing Alex to make up some story about a fake girlfriend back home. So if Zachary goes home, vengeance will be the main reason. However, Joan is much weaker than Zachary in challenges and is very likable, so it is a tough decision.

Leila Mostyn

Leila

Leila and I definitely have different opinions on what we should do for the vote tonight. She wants to vote for Zachary out of revenge for outing us as a couple. At the same time though, I want to vote for Joan because, even though she’s a nice lady, she is our tribe’s weakest member. Besides, I think Leila and I have backtracked enough that we aren’t viewed as being that close to each other anymore, and by voting for Joan, we get an alliance out of the deal. But regardless, Leila and I need to come to a consensus if we don’t want to draw rocks. It’s that simple. I don’t know what we’ll end up doing.

TRIBAL COUNCIL:

The footage shows the members of Garibaldi arriving at tribal council through the darkness. Once in the hut, all ten of them stand in front of the stools looking at Jeff Probst, who was standing there waiting for them. Krystle is shown wearing her immunity necklace that she won on day 1.

Jeff Probst: Right there behind each of you is a torch. Grab one and approach the flame; dip it in and get fire.

Each member of the Garibaldi tribe grabs a torch and does as Jeff has said.

Jeff Probst: As always in this game, fire represents your life. As long as you have fire, you’re still in the game. Once your fire is gone, so are you. That will be the case for one of you tonight.

Jeff and the Garibaldi tribe all sit down on their stools.

Jeff Probst: Alright, let’s go back to the schoolyard pick on day 1. Zachary, you were technically not picked to join a tribe, you were essentially designated to join Garibaldi since Jason was picked to join Soufrière, and as such you were sent to Exile Island. How are you feeling right now?

Zachary: I’m feeling okay Jeff. I’ve been with this tribe for a few days now. They’ve seen how strong I am in challenges; so I think I’ve proven my worth to this tribe.

Krystle: *cough* bull-s*** *cough*

Jeff Probst: What was that, Krystle?

Krystle: I said bull-s***. Zachary may be strong in challenges, but he doesn’t do anything around camp. He doesn’t talk to anybody much. He’s practically acted lazy and anti-social from day one.

Zachary rolls his eyes at Krystle’s comment.

Jeff Probst: Zachary, you’re rolling your eyes.

Zachary: Krystle hasn’t liked me from the beginning. I don’t know what it is…

Krystle: Let me spell it out for you, numb-nuts! You’re lazy! You’re anti-social! You don’t deserve to be here!

Many members of the tribe are shocked at what Krystle has said. Even Jeff Probst is flabbergasted. Braiden puts his head in his hands. Zachary just shakes his head.

Jeff Probst: Wow. Zachary, how do you respond to that?

Zachary: It’s just Krystle; she’s been attacking me all day.

Krystle: I’m sorry if he feels “attacked”, but I’m just calling him out. We’ve all asked him multiple times since he got here to help out more around camp, and he’s basically refused! Not only that, but he keeps to himself all day; I don’t know what he wants from me!

Zachary: To shut the f*** up and stop attacking me!

Jeff Probst: Leila, when you have two tribe members, like Krystle and Zachary that clearly don’t like each other, how does that affect the tribe?

Leila: Oh it affects the tribe in a major way, Jeff. I mean, not only is it not good for morale around here; but if we have two people that aren’t willing to work together in challenges because they want the other one out so badly, that can be an issue as well.

Jeff Probst: Joan, how are you feeling right about now?

Joan: I’m still terrified Jeff. Zachary is clearly stronger in challenges than I am; but with his attitude, I don’t think he deserves to be here. I just have to hope that my tribe mates feel the same way.

Jeff Probst: Jackson, what are you basing your vote on tonight?

Jackson: Strength; we need a strong tribe Jeff. Strength comes from more than just challenges, but loyalty as well. I think that’s what we need to focus on.

Jeff Probst: Alright, this has certainly been one of the most explosive tribal councils I’ve ever seen; but, let’s get to the vote. Krystle, you won individual immunity for your first tribal council on day one. As always, you can choose to keep it to yourself, or give it to someone else.

Krystle: I’m keeping it tonight.

Jeff Probst: Okay, Krystle has immunity, you cannot vote for Krystle. Everybody else is fair game. It is time to vote. Ryan, you’re up.

Ryan makes his way to the voting podium, followed by Vanessa. Their votes are not revealed.

Krystle is the next person to cast a vote. Her vote for Zachary is revealed to the public.

I am sick and tired of your attitude and laziness, numb-nuts. Hopefully you go home tonight and it teaches you a lesson.

Krystle Jennings

Krystle

Braiden, Alex, and Alyssa go up to cast their votes in that order. None of their votes are revealed.

Joan is the next person to vote, her vote for Zachary is revealed to the public.

You don't deserve to be here. Your attitude is atrocious. Lastly, I seriously hope that you don't turn into the next Carl Panzram.

Joan Zdrill

Joan

Leila is the next person to vote; her vote is not revealed to the public.

Jackson is the next person to vote. He can be seen writing Joan’s name on the parchment, but his confessional is not revealed.

Zachary is the final castaway to cast a vote. His vote for Joan is revealed to the public.

Quite honestly, you are worthless to this tribe because you are so weak. You may be a nice person outside of this game, but the saying is “Survival of the fittest” for a reason.

Zachary Friesen

Zachary

Zachary is shown putting his vote in the urn. He then heads back to his seat.

Jeff Probst: I’ll go tally the votes.

Jeff Probst goes and gets the urn.

He is then shown coming back in front of the castaways and places the urn on the table.

Jeff Probst: If anybody has a Hidden Immunity Idol and would like to play it, now would be the time to do so.

The entire Garibaldi tribe looks at Joan and/or Zachary. When neither of them plays an idol, the camera shows a slightly surprised Braiden before turning back to Jeff Probst.

Jeff Probst: Once the votes are read, the decision is final. Person voted out will be asked to leave the tribal council area immediately. I’ll read the votes.

First vote… Joan…

Joan, two votes Joan.

Zachary…

Zachary, that’s two votes Joan, two votes Zachary.

Joan…

Zachary, that’s three votes Joan, three votes Zachary.

Zachary, that’s four votes Zachary, three votes Joan.

Joan, we’re tied again. Four votes Zachary, four votes Joan, two votes left.

(Only Alex and Leila’s votes remain in the urn)…

Zachary, that’s five votes Zachary, four votes Joan, one vote left.

Second person voted out of Survivor: Montserrat… Zachary. You need to bring me your torch.

Zachary: Of f***ing course.

Zachary grabs his bag and his torch and heads over to Jeff Probst. Joan is shown breathing a huge sigh of relief. Zachary then places his torch in the holder in front of Jeff.

Jeff Probst: Zachary, the tribe has spoken.

Jeff places the snuffer on Zachary’s torch. As he takes it off, smoke can be seen coming out of Zachary’s torch where his flame once was.

Jeff Probst: It’s time for you to go.

Zachary turns to his tribe mates and gives them two middle fingers (which are blurred out) before he walks off into the night.

Jeff Probst: Well clearly you guys have some issues that you need to work out as a tribe. If you don’t, I can guarantee that you will be seeing me back here quite often. Grab your torches, head back to camp. Good night.

The outro music plays as the nine remaining members of the Garibaldi tribe grab their bags and their torches and head back towards their camp.

Voting Confessionals[]

I don't understand how people think that being a jerk is going to help them win the game of Survivor. I hope you go home tonight, Zachary.

Ryan

You are a wonderful lady. Your grandchildren are really lucky to have a grandma like you. Please don't take this vote personally, it's strictly strategic. I hope you understand.

Vanessa

I am sick and tired of your attitude and laziness, numb-nuts. Hopefully you go home tonight and it teaches you a lesson.

Krystle

You my friend, are an ass****. I hope you're the one going home.

Braiden

Zachary, I agree with you in the sense that we need to keep the tribe strong. But you have said some things in the past few days that have irritated a lot of people, and you not doing anything around camp doesn't help either.

Alex

Joan, I like you, but so does everyone else. You are also weak in challenges. It hurts me to do this, but for the sake of the tribe, it needs to be done.

Alyssa

You don't deserve to be here. Your attitude is atrocious. Lastly, I seriously hope that you don't turn into the next Carl Panzram.

Joan

Since you exposed my relationship with Alex to the tribe the other day, I just have one thing to say to you now. Revenge is sweet, isn't it?

Leila

Strategically, this is the best vote for the tribe, and for myself. Take care of yourself.

Jackson

Quite honestly, you are worthless to this tribe because you are so weak. You may be a nice person outside of this game, but the saying is “Survival of the fittest” for a reason.

Zachary

Final Words[]

And of course, here I am. What a perfect f***ing way to end my game. I’ve been voted out over a weak old lady by a bunch of idiots. I hope that former tribe of mine suffers, they deserve to.
