A Survivor Shopping Spree! is the first episode of Survivor: Laos.

Challenges[]

Reward Challenge: Fired Up
The castaways will make a fire large enough to burn through a rope using flint, steel and a box of fire making supplies. The first castaway to completely burn through their rope will win.
Reward: Flint and steel for the winner's tribe.
Winner: Lan Xang/Marco

Immunity Challenge: Plunge, Pull, Pop
For this challenge, nine contestants from each tribe will compete. Three had to go on a raft, while three will pull a rope, which will get the raft through the water to a platform. At the platform is an underground cage with bamboo running through it. On the bamboo are nine life preservers, in different parts of the cage. The castaways will have to go underwater and pull the bamboo to release the rings. Once all nine rings are collected, the three will be pulled back to shore on the rafts. The rings will then be used to be thrown on three poles, one ring per pole. The tribe who accomplishes this first wins.
Winner: Lan Xang

Story[]

Day 1[]

The scene opens up with a thin cloud blocking the audience's view of the vast Indian Ocean. Soon enough, it disperses and reveals the beautiful, blue, water as it surrounds the land above that is dotted with thick jungles and rainforests at every turn. A monkey swings from the canopy, squeaking and hollering as it goes from vine to vine. Dominant and commanding music starts in as we see a family of tapirs making their way across the wetlands together. After a few more nature shots are shown, the view focuses on a helicopter flying high up in the air, making its way towards the shores of the land that was just captured by the cameras. Inside this helicopter is Jeff Probst, who is ready to unveil the next season of Survivor.

Laos. It is a land that is dominated by Indic cultures and customs. Geographically isolated from its neighboring countries, its mountainous terrain, exotic jungles, and ancient history are only a few of the attributes that make up the surrounding land. What is central to the beliefs of Laos' inhabitants are their adherence to Buddhism and the Four Noble Truths, which dictate that one must go through suffering before reaching freedom and prosperity. And with the harsh weather and rainstorms that are common to this area, those truths will be no stranger to the eighteen Americans who are about to begin the journey of a lifetime.

–Jeff Probst

The view moves down to the waters below the helicopter where two boats are carrying the eighteen contestants playing in Survivor: Laos towards the shore as all of them are hyped and ready to get the game started. The camera focuses in on the purple boat, which is carrying members of the Lan Xang tribe, as a tough-looking, older, lady looks up to the sky as Probst's chopper flies above her teammates heads'.

When I was young, my dad introduced me to the Navy. And ever since that day, I've never thought about working or being anywhere else. I feel like it suits me as I'm strong, hard-nosed, and I'm not afraid of adversity or opposition when the going gets tough and I believe that that Navy mentality is gonna help me go really far in this game.

–Kel

The view then moves over to a nicely dressed man who seems somewhat distant and cold to the rest of the people around him.

Coming out here was really hard for me. I'm not much of an adventurous person back home or a lover of people for that matter.(Chuckling) But I'm here, and I want to use this experience as a way to truly fight my usual tendencies, make some connections, and blossom out of this cocoon of social anxiety that I seem to be stuck in.

–Terry

The focus is then put onto the boat to the right of the Lan Xang boat, which is painted orange to signify that the competitors on this boat are a part of the Luang Prabang tribe. The camera hones in on a handsome, young, Latin man who is assessing his surroundings before giving off a wide smile.

I've had to spend my entire life fighting in order to survive. I've had to fight through the pain of being poor and having barely any of the basic necessities in my possession. I've also had to fight in the ring because, well, that's my job.(Laughing) So when it comes to this game, I do believe I have the most experience out of anyone here and I won't stop fighting out here until I land that knockout punch.(Smiling)

–Fernando

A larger man with longer, flowing, hair is seen next as he looks over the side of the boat in awe as a crocodile passes along the side of the vessel.

I'm very driven and focused in my everyday life, and I feel like that will translate well when it comes to playing Survivor. I'm a big fan of the show and I think that my resilient nature will allow me to outthink and outmaneuver even the best thinkers that are here with me.

–Allan

The camera then goes back to the chopper as Probst starts back in with his dialogue.

Even though they've only been with each other for a short time, first impressions are already starting to form.

–Jeff Probst

The view goes back to the orange boat as an athletic and determined African-American makes no attempt to hide his obvious judging and assessing of his tribe.

To be perfectly honest, I like the group that I've been handed. Right off the bat, I can see we have some really strong people who are gonna pull their weight around camp and in challenges, myself included in that bunch. There are a few people I'm iffy on, AKA blondie and the older lady, but we'll see what happens when push comes to shove.

–DeNeal

As DeNeal keeps looking over his tribemates, the lavishly dressed lady with bright, ginger, hair looks to her side and rolls her eyes. Obviously, she doesn't like what she sees when it comes to DeNeal.

The younger guy in the middle is already giving me bad vibes. From the way he was looking at all of us, I felt like I was being stared down by a police interrogator or something. He seems way too intense and cocky for my liking, and I honestly don't see the two of us getting along at all!

–Janice

The view is then panned over to the purple boat as the biggest man on the tribe observes the oddly dressed young lady to his left as she looks out to sea.

The girl next to me...don't even get me started.(Chuckling) You can just tell from the way she dresses and from her body language that she's the type to oppose authority and rebel. And, as I consider myself to be the ultimate authoritarian, I'm certainly not gonna let that fly!

–Marco

The young girl looks over in Marco's direction, fully knowing that she's being judged by him and a few other people on the boat. She, however, brushes it off her back and looks the other way.

I know that when everyone was looking at me on the boat they were probably thinking "Oh, look, there's the goth chick. Look at how emotional she is and how she wears her daddy issues on her sleeve, hardy har har!" Yeah, no. I left all of that stuff back home and I'm coming in with a clean slate. Hopefully, by doing this, I can sit back and let people underestimate me, making it super easy to pounce when the time is right.(Grinning)

–Charlotte

As both boats start to close in on the incoming beach, the scene is once again transitioned to Probst inside of the chopper.

What these castaways don't know is that we've installed a new twist this season that is sure to change the game like never before, effectively silencing all of the past twists we've used.

–Jeff Probst

As the music starts to intensify, a slow-motion shot of a young and beautiful Brazilian girl laughing at camp with her tribe is shown.

Being a twenty-six-year-old CEO, I've always had a cunning and "go for the jugular" mentality to me that allows me to take command and demand respect. However, in a game like this that has been shown to hurt people's "feelings" and make them want you out. But don't worry, this little Latina knows how to play nice.(Smirking)

–Jada

The focus hones back onto Jeff as views of all the castaways start to appear on the screen with energetic and loud music playing in the background.

It is the ultimate challenge. A group of strangers forced to work together while battling the elements and each other. They must learn to adapt, or they'll be voted out. In the end, only one will be left standing to be crowned the Sole Survivor and claim the million dollar prize.

–Jeff Probst

A slow-motion shot of a rough and tumble bearded man is shown as he carries a very heavy piece of wood on his shoulders.

I'm a lover of the outdoors, and this is basically as outdoor as you can get right here.(Laughing) I'm hopin' that my tribe will appreciate my work ethic around camp and not look at me for bein' the silly ol' dumbo that I kinda am.(Scratching his head as a sharp dong is heard in the background)

–Rufus

The camera shows one final shot of Probst in the helicopter, shouting his famous lines to officially start the season before it shifts back towards the mainland and shows both boats full of players who are ready to start getting into the game.

THIRTY-NINE DAYS, EIGHTEEN PEOPLE, ONE SURVIVOR!

–Jeff Probst

Survivor_Laos

Survivor Laos

The scene reopens as both of the boats holding all eighteen castaways dock at the shore of a beautiful Laotian beach. Once they are safely anchored down, the players start to disembark their respective boats and head for the mat that matches their tribe color. As they do so, the focus hones in on a giddy Meredith as she looks around at the gorgeous landscape and environment that she has found herself in whilst walking towards the purple mat.

Walking on the beach, surrounded by all this bountiful flora and fauna, I couldn't be more ecstatic. This just confirms the reality that I'm here, I'm on Survivor, and soon enough Jeff Probst is gonna be here to greet us and start this adventure off for us. I'm seriously tingling right now, that's how excited I am!(Giggling)

–Meredith

Once everyone has gotten onto their respective tribe mat, Probst is seen standing a few feet in front of the castaways as he greets them with a big smile on his face.

Probst(Smiling): Welcome to Survivor: Laos.

A huge round of cheers and applause is heard throughout both groups as everyone is mutually excited and anxious to see what is in store for them out here.

Probst: As you can see, you've already been divided into two tribes. Purple tribe, your name is Lan Xang. Here are your buffs. Open up the bag and put 'em on.

Probst tosses the striking purple buff bag to Marco as he and the rest of his team open up the sack and start putting on their buffs.

Probst: Orange tribe, your name is Luang Prabang. Here are your buffs. Open the bag and put 'em on.

Probst tosses the bright orange-buff bag to DeNeal as the football coach pulls open the bag and hands out the orange buffs to each of his fellow tribemates.

Rufus(To his tribe): That's gonna be hard to say.

A few laughs and giggles arise as Probst turns his attention to the Lan Xang tribe.

Probst: Tall guy with the blonde dreads.

Jonas(Grinning): My name is Jonas.

Probst: Jonas, what do you make of your tribe so far? This group of people that you don't know and that you're being forced to live with.

Jonas: It is hard to base everythin' off of appearance and body language. But, lookin' around, we've got some really strong guys and girls, and I think we also have some people who are gonna be more sociable and hard workers. So to sum it up, I think that we have a really awesome tribe from a first impressions standpoint, Jeff.

A few people on Jonas' tribe, namely Marco and Kel, grin at this while some of the people from Luang Prabang, namely DeNeal, seem to be less than pleased by Jonas' words.

A few years back, my wife passed away from skin cancer. That was a huge game change for me because not only was I losin' my love, but my boys were left without a mother and I had to take full responsibility in raisin' them. Now I'm out here, tryin' to win some money so our family can get back on to its feet. I'm here for one reason and one reason alone, to win this game for my sons.

–Jonas

Probst smirks a bit as he questions Jonas for a second time.

Probst: And what do you make of the other tribe?

Jonas: Well, I think they look like a pretty formidable group of people, but I think that we've still got a bit more spunk and strength than those guys over there.

Jada is seen giggling at this as the view shows DeNeal, who definitely has something to get off his chest by now.

Probst: Guy on the far right over here.

DeNeal(Smiling): DeNeal.

Probst: DeNeal, what do you think about Jonas' assessment of your tribe. Because from where I'm standing, you look you have something to say.

DeNeal(Biting his lip): It's interesting. Those are some pretty big words, but we'll see how everything pans out during the first challenge.

Cornelia giggles as she looks to Kacey and the two both exchange glances of "seriously?". Probst smiles, happy that a friendly little rivalry between the tribes has already started.

I did not appreciate Jonas' answer one bit. His whole attitude seemed very "right in your face" and confrontational to me, and it's really starting to piss me off. I don't know who he thinks he is, but if he wants some competition, then he'll be getting a lot of freaking competition!

–DeNeal

As everyone starts to calm down, Probst decides it's time to break the news to all of the eager castaways.

Probst: Well, I hate to disappoint all of you since you seem so excited to get to this first challenge, but it is not being played in teams.

A look of confusion sweeps through the group as they all don't know what Probst is talking about at this point.

Probst: It all fits into our new twist for the season. It's called the Survivor Bazaar.

DeNeal's eyes go wide as Meredith and Sophie's jaws drop right to the floor at this new revelation. The camera focuses on Allan as he, like many of the others, is surprised but curious to learn what this new twist is about.

Being a long-time viewer of this show, I've seen a whole bunch of twists come and go throughout the seasons. So when Probst announced that the one for this season was brand new, I was definitely excited to hear what's gonna be thrown at us. It's just another part of this game that I love and that I can't wait to experience.(Smiling)

–Allan

Probst: How the Bazaar works is that before every immunity challenge and every Tribal Council, you guys will have the opportunity to visit the Bazaar. This is a shop that contains all sorts of varying items that will all have an impact on the game. From buying yourself immunity to removing half your votes, this could save or kill your game at the drop of a hat.

Fernando nods, excited about this new set of rules as all of the other castaways seem to be taking the news in various different ways.

Probst: The only way to get anything from the Bazaar, however, is to have points in your possession. How do you earn points, you might ask? Well, you can look behind me at the challenge that's been set up for all eighteen of you to compete in as the reward challenges this season won't just be about Tribal reward, but about your own personal gain as well as the better you do in the reward challenge, the more points you'll earn.

A few of the stronger competitors, like Marco, seem to be in favor of this, happy that that challenges now are playing a bigger role in everyone's individual strategy.

Probst: All other potential twists are being removed in favor of the Bazaar. No idols, no tribe switches, no nothing. All of the twists and turns that happen from this season will come strictly from the hands of all of you.

The focus highlights Fran as she appears to be pleased with that perspective of this fresh concept, excited that all of them as players have a bit more control over what happens within the structure of the game.

I'm really digging this Bazaar twist, to be honest. It kind of forces all of as players to step it up a bit more as we all have potential control over all the twists that could happen for the duration of the game. So I think this is gonna really emphasize playing a good all-around physical, strategic, and social game because one wrong move or one bad relationship with another person could get you sent home in a heartbeat.

–Fran

The view moves back to Probst, as he now starts to go into details about the challenge.

Probst: Now, with all of that at stake, are you guys ready to get to your first reward challenge?

Though a lot of people are still dazed and confused by the mountain of information that Probst just sputtered out, they still all nod their heads in affirmation to Probst's question.

Probst: Alright, like I said before, you will all compete individually. For the first challenge, it is only fitting that we test your ability on one of the most crucial survival skills there is, and that is making fire.

Kel's eyes light up, ecstatic about the concept of the challenge as Probst goes on.

Probst: Here is one more incentive before we start, though. The person that comes in first in this challenge not only gets the most points but will also win reward for their tribe in the form of flint.

As Probst holds up the flint, the gleam in a lot of people's eyes shows how important getting first place can be.

Probst: Okay, we'll draw for spots and then get started.

The anxiety level increases among the eighteen castaways as they had no idea this was the way that they would be starting the game as the camera rapidly zooms in and the back out again to show all of them now at their respective fire-making stations, ready to begin the challenge. Probst raises his arm in the air, giving his famous line, signaling all of the contestants to begin. Immediately, with the go-ahead from Jeff, everyone grabs as much kindling as they can before getting started on trying to successfully make fire. The sounds of the knife being whacked against the flint start to ring throughout the air as everyone profusely and eagerly tries to get a fire going. Minutes in, Marco's kindling lights and he immediately starts setting up a little tipi to build the fire up to the rope. Being a marine, this comes very naturally to him and he springs into the lead as everyone else is still trying to get their sparks to light. Marco's singular success is short-lived, however, as both Fernando and Aaron get a flame going as well, allowing them to start catching up to him. As the three of them continue to progress, Charlotte and Kel also get their kindling lit, putting them back in the market as well. Marco's fire, however, is still the strongest as it inches its way closer and closer to the rope. This doesn't stop Fernando and Kel, though, as the two of them are quick and efficient in building a structure with their material so that the fire builds towards the rope. Their approach seems to work better as they start to gain some ground on the marine, who stays calm nonetheless. As Marco uses the last of his kindling, DeNeal also gets into the mix as he finally gets a little baby fire going at his station. Meanwhile, the other twelve competitors can just sit and watch the others as they cannot get a fire started to save their lives. Marco remains the front-runner, only a few more inches away from burning through his rope, but Fernando his right on his tail. Soon enough, both guys' fires are now coming in contact with the rope, producing steam and smoke as it burns through the material. It comes down to the fire, but in the end, Marco's rope breaks first, winning him first place and the reward for the Lan Xang tribe.

Probst: MARCO COMES IN FIRST, WINNING REWARD FOR HIS TRIBE!!!!!!!! The rest of you are still in it! Remember, the better the placement, the more points you get!

As Marco wildly celebrates his close victory, Fernando's rope breaks only a few seconds shy of first place, but he seems to be very satisfied with second, as he knows it is beneficial for the Bazaar. This leaves Kel, DeNeal, Aaron, and Charlotte as the only people left competing who have fire. Kel's fire continues to move closer to her rope as Aaron and DeNeal are right behind her. As she starts to burn through her rope, Jonas, Rufus, and Janice are all able to get a flame going after a long while of trying. As they do so, Kel's rope breaks, earning her third place. Aaron comes right behind her, burning through his rope and getting fourth while DeNeal takes fifth place. By this time, Rufus' fire has gone out while Allan, Fran, and Sophie have also been able to get a fire going as well. Charlotte remains in the lead, thanks to getting her fire started earlier, and she easily takes sixth. This leaves Jonas, Fran, Sophie, Allan, and Janice with fire going. Now that he's finally got his flame, getting it up to the rope seems to be a piece of cake for Jonas as he does it without even batting an eye, finishing him in seventh place. Allan finishes right after him, and Janice after Allan, putting them at eighth and ninth place respectively. Meanwhile, Rufus finally gets his flame going again after several more failed attempts. Taking a different approach, Rufus makes a tipi like Marco did, allowing him to get back in it and pass up Sophie. He finishes in eleventh though, as Fran still maintains her lead and takes tenth place just a second or two before he finishes. Probst starts to put pressure on the remaining castaways, as Sophie is still the only one with a fire going, stating that this is a basic survival skill they should all know. However, no one can get their fire to light before Sophie's rope breaks, giving her twelfth place, and leaving only six people left in the challenge.

Probst: And we're down to the bottom six. Terry, Meredith, Cornelia, Jada, Zed, and Kacey all without any flame for this entire time. You've got to get a move on if you don't want to get last!

A few more minutes go by as no one gets anything, but then, out of the blue, Terry's kindling lights up and he's back in it. His luck is not good for long, however, as Kacey sparks a fire as well. As the two of them keep on building their fires up, trying not to put them up, Meredith finally gets a spark to stick as well, relieving her as she does like Marco and Rufus and builds a little tipi. Despite Terry getting it first, Kacey's strategy ends up being more effective as she breaks her rope before him, earning her thirteenth place while Terry takes fourteenth. A few of the top-placing castaways look on with bored and almost annoyed expressions at seeing the remaining four struggling so much to get fire. And despite her taking so long, no one else gets fire before Meredith burns through her rope, finishing her in fifteenth. As only three are left, it is becoming increasingly clear that fire is not gonna come easy to any of these three. As she frustratingly chops at her flint, Jada accidently brushes the knife across her finger, cutting it a bit.

Jada(In pain): Goddamnit!

This doesn't help her, as she now has to deal with an injury on top of making a fire. And after a long struggle, both Cornelia and Zed finally spark fire after DeNeal and Fernando instruct them how to do it from their own stations, as this is not against the rules. Marco drills Jada as well, which works as she finally uses the right technique and gets a spark as well. In the end, it all went to which fire burned fastest, and Cornelia and Zed's luck came in as they burned through their ropes and got sixteenth and seventeenth respectively and put Jada in dead last.

Probst: WITH THAT, THIS CHALLENGE IS OFFICIALLY COMPLETE!!!!!!!

Kel hugs Marco on a job well done as many of his other tribemates are in awe of how fast he got his fire going. Jada, on the other hand, is extremely frustrated and disappointed at her performance as Meredith consoles her and pats her on the back to help comfort her.

Probst: Marco, congratulations. Not only have you earned the most points from the challenge, but you've also won flint and steel for your tribe. Which, just by looking at that challenge, should be getting you guys fire immediately.

Marco smiles and nods as the Lan Xang tribe cheers at the fact that they now have fire in the form of flint. Cornelia rolls her eyes at this while DeNeal has a look of defeat on his face. Probst also hands them a map to where their camp is located.

Probst: Luang Prabang, I personally don't have anything for you guys, but you all now have points at your disposal just as Lan Xang. What you decide to do with those points is all up to you. Here's a map to your guys' camp. You can head on out to the left. Good luck!

Both tribes head in opposite directions as Marco holding the reward of flint that he won for his tribe is focused on.

I think that a lot of people wouldn't want to put themselves out there and risk looking like a threat by winning the first individual challenge like that. But, man, I couldn't be happier that I freaking shut that thing down!(Chuckling) Not only do I have the most points in my pocket right off the bat, but I'm basically the hero to my own tribe because I earned them fire in the first twenty minutes of the game. I can't think of a better way to start off the season than to start it off like that.(Smiling)

–Marco

The camera rapidly zooms out as both tribes are seen starting to hike to their respective camps before the view cuts to black and goes to a commercial break.

Lan Xang[]

Beautiful, serene, music starts in as we pick up with a view of the purple Lan Xang tribe making their way along their beach and to their camp, big and wide smiles on all of their faces from their "victory" at the first challenge and just the pure fact that they are all on Survivor.

Walking up to the beach, seeing our bright purple flag flying in the wind, I just couldn't help but geek out.(Giggling) I've been a fan for so long, and finally getting to come out here and play this game that I love so much is like the biggest dream come true you could ever imagine.

–Sophie

As they all arrive at the flag that marks their camp, a symphony of celebration and hugs break out as everyone is happy to have finally arrived at camp, knowing full well that the game has now been set into motion. Immediately after the excitement and conversations start to die down a bit, Marco speaks out.

Marco(Grinning): Well, now that everyone seems to be settling in a bit, why don't we get a start on setting up camp for the night?

Everyone nods, agreeing that making camp is the best plan of action.

Marco: So, I don't know about you guys, but I personally like to work within a democratic environment. So when it comes to who does what, I was thinking that we all just decide what we want to work and then just go from there.

Charlotte raises an eyebrow as a few other tribe members seem to be very happy and pleased with Marco's approach.

Marco: So, just right out of the gate, who wants to work on digging us a firepit and getting some fire going?

After a few seconds, Jonas and Meredith both raise their hands, and Marco enthusiastically passes the flint he won for the tribe to Jonas. After some more of this same type of questioning, it is decided that Sophie will look for food and water sources, Jada and Charlotte will weave the palm fronds, and Marco, Aaron, Terry, and Kel will be in charge of collecting materials to build the actual shelter.

Marco(Smiling): Well, now that everyone has a task, let's get on it!

With a quick bout of team spirit and cheering, the castaways all disperse to start working on the chores and jobs that Marco so shrewdly assigned.

Being a member of the Marine Corps, I know when things need to get done and how to get them done properly. And I'm applying that same mentality to my tribe out here. Basically, all I did was let them decide where they want to work, and they jumped for joy!(Chuckling) I know that in the past people have said that it's a bad move to take the leader position very early on, but I think my approach coupled with my performance in our first challenge has made these people kind of respect me a lot, and if they want to look up to me to make the decisions, then who am I not to oblige?(Smirking)

–Marco

The camera then proceeds to show various shots of all the Lan Xang tribe members working around camp. Aaron and Terry carry a long piece of bamboo through the forest, Jada weaves a palm frond back at camp, and Marco takes a few whacks at a tall bamboo tree before it comes toppling to the ground. The view finally focuses in on Jonas and Meredith as they have already finished gathering wood and digging a pit for the fire by this time, and now Jonas is attempting to get a spark out of the flint.

Jonas(As he strikes the flint): C'mon, I just got you to work a minute ago.

Meredith(Encouraging him): Just keep going, you've almost got it. I can feel a flame coming any minute now.

Jonas keeps at it for a bit more before the flint finally gives in, erupting into a tiny fire that sparks the kindling. Meredith, ecstatic about seeing the little flame, blows on it to try and keep it alive as Jonas starts to form a tipi of twigs and sticks to ignite the flame. It works, and the entire structure catches fire, causing the two of them to cheer and celebrate very loudly, attracting the attention of Jada and Charlotte.

Jada(Hopeful): Did you guys get something?

Jonas(Gleeful): We sure did! Fire, in all of its glory!

Jada jumps up and claps, happy to see her tribe get fire within the first ten minutes of arriving on the beach. She walks over to Jonas as she and Meredith both compliment him and praise him for getting the fire started.

Meredith: You did an amazing job. I knew you'd get it quickly!

Jonas(A bit embarrassed): Aw, it was nothin'. I mean, it was my second time today.

Both Jada and Meredith refute his claim, saying that it is a big deal and he should be very happy with himself. The three of them keep on talking excitedly for a bit as the view focuses in on Jonas as he smiles and nods at the other two women.

Goin' in, the one thing I definitely wanted myself to be seen as was likable. Bein' social and buildin' relationships with others is just a part of me as a human being and I wanted to share that part with the people on my tribe. Plus, it is also a good move strategically since by makin' friends with everyone I won't have anyone who wants to go after me and try and get me out early on. So it just seems natural that I'd want to get on that right away.(Smiling)

–Jonas

Jada(Dancing and cheering): Go Jonas! Go Jonas!

Meredith joins in with Jada's peppy cheer as Jonas just laughs at the two of them acting so energetic and quirky. However, as they continue to chat for a bit and have fun, the camera moves to the left of them to show Charlotte, who is sitting and weaving palm fronds by herself. She looks over and sighs, seeing the appeal of being alone much more than dancing around and being loud.

These people I have here on my team....oh, they're just so annoying.(Sighing) I mean, I get being excited and all on the first day. Hell, I'm super enthusiastic about being out here! I'm just not the type of person to be so boisterous and external about it. Like seriously? You started fire with the flint. That's SO awesome but we still have more to do. Why do I have to be subjected to them cheering about doing something that I beat all three of them at earlier today?(Taking a deep breath) I just need to calm down a bit. Otherwise, I'm gonna get WAY too emotional.(Laughing a bit)

–Charlotte

As they break apart, Jada and Meredith head over and ask Charlotte if they can help with the palm fronds, which she happily obliges to. The scene then transitions over to the jungle where we see Kel and Marco together as the latter chops down another bamboo tree.

Kel(Impressed): Nice one!

Marco(Smiling): Thanks.

The focus hones in on Kel as Marco goes to retrieve the fallen stick of bamboo so that the two of them can lug it back to camp for the shelter.

When we first got to our camp, Marco stood up right away and made a plan of what we're gonna work on and how we're gonna execute it. His approach was very democratic, which I loved. And seeing how strong he is and how much he's already investing into our tribe, I'm thinking that this a dude that I definitely want to ride it out all the way to the end with. I feel like our personalities and morals just mesh really well with each other and if we did get together, I could see us being a force to be reckoned with. So with all of that stuff flowing through my head, I just kinda went for it.

–Kel

As Marco picks up the long piece of bamboo, Kel speaks up.

Kel: Hold up for one sec.

Marco looks a bit confused, but he does as she asks and drops the bamboo before walking back over to where the navy recruiter is standing.

Marco: What's up?

Kel: Okay, so here's what I wanted to bring up. I just want to come out and say that I really respected the way you totally took control of this tribe like you did when we got here. You've got some mad logic skills, man.

Marco(Smiling): Oh, well, thank you. Just doing what I do best.

Kel(Keeping it going): I also think that the two of us have the same type of mentality when it comes to working hard and getting it done. I think that if you and I paired up and stuck together, we could go really far in this game.

Marco nods, agreeing with Kel on her points.

Marco: I can't say I don't like the sound of that. To be honest, I wanted to get all the strong people together for an alliance and you definitely seem like one of the strongest people we have here on this team. Plus we've got that military blood running as well.

Kel(Nodding): Oh, for sure. I'm down with that. Who else were you thinking as far as alliances go?

Marco: Aaron really struck me as a strong and honest guy. I think that if we linked up with him, he'd be loyal to us until the bitter end.

Kel nods once again, stating that she gets good vibes from Aaron and agrees that bringing him in as a third would be beneficial for their theoretical alliance.

Kel and I definitely have a lot in common. The big thing is that we're both affiliated with the military, which is a huge point of interest for me. I'm a marine and she works as a navy recruiter, so that forms a bond between us right off the bat. In addition, I've always said that I want to align myself with the strongest and most loyal people in the game, and she certainly fits that to a t. I'm hoping that we can maybe round up a few more cadets around here to try and take full control. But for now, it's me and Kel all the way.

–Marco

The conversation between the two military people continues for a bit before Marco goes to a more prickly topic.

Marco: Just throwing this out there, but where's your head at in terms of who you think should leave first if we did have to go to Tribal Council?

Kel(Biting her lip): I know it's still really early, but I'd say Charlotte. That girl is like second-hand smoke with the negativity. It just seems to latch onto you.

Marco(Nodding): I agree. She rubbed me the wrong way from the start. I just think she's gonna be very rebellious and over-the-top.

The view shows a quick shot of Charlotte drinking from her canteen by herself before it goes back to the two of Marco and Kel.

Kel: I mean, like I said, it's still early.

Marco: Yeah, I know. Besides, I'd rather put my focus into pulling Aaron and some other people in before we think about who to boot first.

Kel nods in agreement as the two of them persist in chatting about potential options for their pact while they begin to pull the bamboo back to camp.

I did feel a bit bad throwing Charlotte's name under the bus like I did, but at the same time, she's the only person of this group so far that's been giving me the frowny, negative, vibes. And, in all honesty, those can be even more detrimental to a team than a weak link. She likes to be alone a lot, and that makes her a free agent waiting to happen if we let her stay here longer than we should. Who knows, though? Anything could change in the next few days. But for now, she's at the top of both of our hit lists.(Grinning)

–Kel

The view transitions to a shot of all of the tribe now working on the shelter together cohesively as the camera pans back to show Marco and Aaron a bit more isolated as they, along with everyone else, are taking a short break.

Marco(Quietly): So here's what's going down.

Aaron leans in a bit, curious as to what Marco has to say.

Marco: Coming in, I wanted to bring all of the strong people together so we could all look out for each other and make sure the weaker players don't try and gang up on us.

Aaron(Raising an eyebrow): Yeah, okay?

Marco: To me, the three strongest people here are me, you, and Kel. I've already talked to her, and she's down with being in a pact together. I was wondering if you were interested as well.

Aaron(Shrugging his shoulders): I mean, why not? You seem like a real, solid, dude and I like how you're leading the tribe so far. And I think Kel's a cool lady too.

Marco(Satisfied): Alright, cool. I'm just letting you know that when I give my word like I am right now, I mean it. None of this "fingers crossed behind my back" type of thing.

Marco holds up both of his palms as Aaron chuckles a bit.

Aaron(Smiling): Me too, man.

The two shake hands briefly before getting back to work with the rest of their tribe as the focus goes to Aaron.

Marco is certainly an interesting guy, to say the least. I did like how he handled being the leader and I thought it was very valiant to take more of the common man's approach instead of ordering us around overbearingly like most leaders do. But he is very intimidating, I have to say.(Chuckling) The idea of an alliance with him and Kel certainly peaks my interest, but I'll have to wait it out. I want to make sure I'm not jumping into a shark tank by making this deal with him or anything.(Smiling)

–Aaron

The view goes and hones in on Marco for one last time as he is hammering into one of the pieces of bamboo.

I believe myself to be an all or nothing type of guy. Either I'm all in at the poker table, or I ain't playing. And I already think that that has translated over to how I'm playing this game out here. I can say with the utmost certainty that I'm already playing hard. I'm fully aware of that. But once this fire starts burning, I can't put it out. Now that I've put myself on this leader pedestal with my tribe and my alliance, I have to keep that going and keep playing on that role. It's against my nature to just cease with it now. But I can tell you, this could be the beginning of an unstoppable empire.(Smirking)

–Marco

Quick shots of Aaron, Kel, and Marco are shown before the scene is switched over to the rivaling Luang Prabang camp.

Luang Prabang[]

The music dies down and a more mellow, almost somber, tone is heard as the camera pans along the tops of the trees until it reaches the site of the Luang Prabang camp. The atmosphere is not nearly as upbeat as the Lan Xang camp as we observe the castaways already getting down to business and working on setting up their camp. DeNeal and Allan carry a large piece of bamboo before the former wipes his forehead and sighs, not happy with how things are going so far.

So we ended up being the tribe that lost the reward, and that really sucks. Fernando was seconds away from getting it, but it just wasn't meant to be, I guess. So when we got to camp, everyone just kind of sauntered into their tasks. There wasn't much of a plan, structure, or talking about it to be frank! We aren't connecting like a tribe should be, and that's a big red flag on our first day. So I decided to step up and try to get all of us to collaborate and cheer up a bit more since having that unity is going to be crucial if we want a chance at getting immunity.

–DeNeal

Trying to get them out of the rut, DeNeal speaks up.

DeNeal(Loudly): Can I have everybody's attention for a minute?

Everyone stops what they're doing and turns towards DeNeal, curious as to what he has on his mind.

DeNeal: Here's the thing, guys. I know we're all disappointed and upset that we didn't win that flint back there. But it was just the first challenge, and we can come back and prove everyone wrong at the next one. But we can only do that if we all commit to this team wholeheartedly and try to get more pep in our step than we have right now.

Rufus nods in agreement while Janice scrunches her face out of annoyance.

DeNeal: I get it's only our first day out here, but the first day can make a big difference in the rest of our time out here as well. And I think we all want to start this experience off on a high note. So, that being the case, is everyone on board for a little more team unity?

A majority of the players all enthusiastically agree, though a few hold back, and decide to approach each other and their chores in a more positive manner. DeNeal is seen smirking, happy about how fast he was able to turn things around as he joins Allan and Zed in going to get more bamboo for the shelter.

Being a football coach, I do have to be sort of a natural leader every time I come to work, so it's pretty much in my DNA on how to rally people up and get them excited. I'm just hoping that approaching this tribe like I do with my players back home is going to produce the same results because I, for one, do NOT like losing. And if we can't get our act together and suck it up, you won't be seeing me in a good mood any time soon, I can tell you that.(Chuckling slightly)

–DeNeal

As the three guys leave, the focus hones in on Kacey, Rufus, and Janice all digging a fire pit as the former two are having a pretty good conversation while the latter is just kind of sitting back and being more silent.

DeNeal is someone who is really getting on my last nerve. The way he says everything, his tone of voice, it just repulses me. Don't ask me why, maybe I'm just the type of person who doesn't like to be ordered around, who knows? But I'll tell you what I do know: DeNeal is a patronizing ass. And if he keeps his micromanaging behavior up, I'm gonna have a really hard time keeping my mouth shut when I'm around him. I may not look like much, but this little, rich, lady has a pretty venomous bite when she gets angry enough!(Chuckling)

–Janice

Janice sighs loudly as Rufus raises his eyebrow.

Rufus: Somethin' on your mind?

Janice(Shrugging): Oh, not much. I'm just a little put off by that guy.

Kacey: DeNeal?

Janice nods as she goes on to explain her reasoning.

Janice(Venting): I mean, could he get any more condescending?

Rufus: Eh, I'm happy he kind of stepped up and took charge like that. We weren't really talkin' to each other at all and that isn't really healthy for a team.

Janice: I don't have a problem with talking to people. It's just his tone. The cocky and so matter-of-factly way he presents himself. It just bugs me honestly.

Kacey: Yeah, I did kind of notice that too. But we can't really complain. Like Rufus said, he got us back on track and that's all that really matters right now.

Janice just shrugs again as the conversation goes on to a different topic.

The way that Janice was talkin' 'bout DeNeal made it seem like he's Frankenstein and she's the angry mob that's gonna come after him. She just would not let up on him bein' bossy and whatnot, but that's kinda what a leader has to do. To me, it was Janice who was in the wrong for sayin' those things. She doesn't really seem to think before she says things. But come on, lady, it's our first day meetin' each other. Give the guy a freakin' break already!(Laughing)

–Rufus

The view shows a shot of Janice gathering firewood in the forest before it zooms back to camp to show Cornelia, Fran, and Fernando all weaving palm fronds and enjoyably chatting amongst themselves.

Coming into this game, I definitely wanted to incorporate flirting into my overall strategy. And damn did we get some fine looking girls on this tribe or not?(Chuckling) Kacey, Cornelia, and Fran all look like they've been pageant queens at one time or another, and I'm certainly looking forward to getting to know each and every one of them. But don't be mistaken, I'm still here for a million dollars. Flirting is just one of the facets I can use to help me reach that money.(Grinning)

–Fernando

Fernando(Looking up to the sun): Damn, it's really hot out here right now.

Fran(Giggling): Jeez, I didn't think that the tannest guy out here would have a problem with the heat.

The girls laugh it up as Fernando simply rolls his eyes playfully.

Fernando(Jokingly): You better watch yourself, missy.

Fran smiles and sticks her tongue out at him before he chuckles in response.

Cornelia: Where are you even from?

Fernando: Well, currently I live in LA, but I'm originally from Puerto Rico.

Cornelia(Smiling): Ah, cool. And what do you do for a living?

Fernando(Scratching the back of his head): I'm a boxer. But I also model a bit on the side.

Cornelia's eyes light up as tone gets lighter and more enthusiastic.

Cornelia(Brightly): Ooooh, very nice. That's kind of sexy to be perfectly honest.

Fran breaks out into laughter as Fernando himself chuckles a bit, complimented by Cornelia's flirting. The focus stays on Cornelia as she and Fernando continue to talk as Fran goes back to weaving some of her palm fronds, still intently listening to their conversation.

Fernando is definitely the guy I like hanging with most already. He's super fun, humorous as hell, and he's very flirtatious, which kind of sums me up in a nutshell as well.(Giggling) That's probably why we get along so well is because we have so many personality traits that are similar to each other. Either way though, I'm happy that I'm on a tribe with him and I really hope that me and him and can stay out here a while so we can mix things up and enjoy each other's company.(Smiling)

–Cornelia

Fernando soon turns his attention back to Fran.

Fernando(Smiling): So, Fran, what's your job?

Fran: I work in retail. I'm a manager, actually.

Fernando(Beaming): Ah, I see. A woman on top. I like that.

Fernando winks at her as Cornelia can barely contain herself as she is laughing so hard. Fran blushes, a bit embarrassed by Fernando's steamy statement, but she laughs it off and simply retorts it.

Fran: I guess you could say that.

Fernando grins as Cornelia looks to Fran and the two of them exchange a mutual eye roll at the boxer's antics.

Fernando certainly came on strong to me and Cornelia today. I don't know if he genuinely likes talking to us like that or if flirting is just a part of his strategy, but the situation was awkward, to say the least. I mean, I can play along and smile about it, but in reality, it kind of creeps me out.(Giggling) I promise, I'm not some sheltered, lonely, prude! I guess I just get weirded out when some shirtless Latino guy I don't know starts hitting on me. Is that bad?(Laughing)

–Fran

Fernando is shown giving off a big, shiny, smile before the scene is transitioned to the evening as the entire tribe is putting the finishing touches on the shelter, which does not look up to par at all.

DeNeal: Can someone hand me the machete?

Fernando hands DeNeal the machete as the football coach can be seen getting frustrated as he slams it into the bamboo to cut it in half.

We, well I should really say that myself, Allan, and Zed, spent the entire day working, and yet we still don't have the shelter completed. Fricking great!(Groaning) I don't know what exactly the other six were doing in that time, but it definitely wasn't working because our shelter is not complete, the palm fronds aren't done, and we haven't gotten fire yet. My patience is wearing thin, especially since we have less than an hour until the sun goes down.

–DeNeal

DeNeal, looking down at the lack of palm fronds by his feet, looks to Cornelia and questions her about them.

DeNeal(A bit apprehensive): Is this all you guys got done?

Cornelia: I'm not sure. There could still be more around here somewhere.

DeNeal(Under his breath): Well, I don't see any.

Cornelia, upon hearing this, rolls her eyes and puts her hands on her hips as she is starting to get cranky as well. Fernando and Rufus both look a little worried, not happy about how much tension is mounting on the work ethic around camp.

Our coach, AKA DeNeal, was not happy with how far behind we were on the shelter tonight. Like, he was REALLY mad! Honestly, though, I can't blame him. It was kind of my fault as I spent all my time hanging out with the girls instead of weaving palm fronds like I'd been assigned. So that did put a bit of burden on my back for slowing the progress down a bit. But I wasn't about to announce that fact right to DeNeal's face!(Chuckling subtly)

–Fernando

Eventually, after some hastily crafted bamboo and palm fronds go onto it, the shelter is completed by the time night falls.

DeNeal(Calming down a bit): Alright, I think we're good.

Smiles and even some applause are aroused by this as everyone is happy to have somewhere to sleep for the night. However, this happiness is short-lived as the shaky and improper build of the shelter along with the heavy wind that is coming from the east causes the entire structure to topple and fall on its side, shocking and devastating all nine castaways to see all of their work destroyed in a mere matter of seconds.

Rufus(His jaw hanging open): Are you kiddin' me?

DeNeal's mouth is blurred as the rest of players look almost as pissed off as he is about losing their shelter.

Great. Just f**king great!(Groaning loudly) Who would have ever predicted that our shelter would fall over like that and screw all of us over for the night? I'm just so done right now. I've never been so pissed off in my life. These people really need to suck it up and get back on track fast because if tonight is any indication, this tribe is already in deep water.

–DeNeal

As the overall somberness and annoyance spread around camp, DeNeal takes a deep breath, trying to stay calm.

DeNeal(Angrily): Looks like we'll be sleeping on the ground tonight.

Fernando bites his lip as Kacey clenches her eyes shut, as she does not like the sound of that. As everyone slowly and lethargically goes to get some cloth to sleep on for the night, Fernando looks up and sees a quick flash in the sky.

Fernando(Groaning): Unfortunately, I don't think the wind is the only thing that's gonna hit us tonight.

With the realization that a storm is coming, Cornelia groans and stomps her feet on the sand, frustrated by their bad luck. DeNeal just hangs his head low in disappointment before grabbing his everyone else's clothing to keep it dry as the rain just starts pouring down.

DeNeal(To himself): Welcome to hell. Stop number one, Luang Prabang.

Shots of the lightning in the sky, rain falling onto the ocean water, and all the tribe members curled up on their mat and trying to survive the night are shown before the view cuts to a commercial break.

Day 2[]

Luang Prabang[]

As dark clouds are seen dispersing and disappearing, the sun finally rises up into the sky and shines onto the Luang Prabang camp, which has been soaked by the thunderstorm that occurred during the previous night. Large puddles and murky water are strewn about the area as everyone is starting to wake up and stretch out their sore limbs. DeNeal immediately goes into leadership mode as he observes the damage and starts assigning himself and others things to do.

DeNeal: Let's see what we can do to fix this mess.

Fran smiles as she, DeNeal, and a few others head into the jungle to try and start on a new shelter so that they don't have to suffer through another wet night on the sand. Cornelia groans as she carefully steps through the damp sand, sticking her tongue out as a sign of disgust.

Our first night in Laos sucked worse than anything I've ever dealt with before in my entire life.(Groaning) We had our shelter just completely topple to the ground, a big thunderstorm that got all of us here drenched and shivering, and to top that off we have to wake back up and do everything again since we still don't have anything. No shelter, no fire, nothing.(Sniffling and holding back her tears) And it's just hard because you're like what else could freaking go wrong at this point?

–Cornelia

Cornelia shivers and groans as she and Kacey are seen pulling leaves from the trees to use as the roof for the shelter. The scene then switches over to DeNeal, Rufus, and Fernando all down by the water well filling up everyone's canteens before they plan to go and work on the shelter some more. As they are talking, DeNeal decides to bring up a very interesting topic.

After the colossal downpour that hit our camp yesterday, it was clear that this game is on and this game is serious. And to put it lightly, a lot of the pain and suffering last night could've been prevented and avoided if everyone had just done their share at camp. And while I think that it wasn't all of them who were guilty of this, I think that at least a few of the girls are kind of the ones who maybe aren't doing their part and complaining about the weather. So, given our current situation, it made the most sense to me to bring all the guys together.

–DeNeal

DeNeal looks over his shoulder, making sure no one else is approaching him the other two, before bringing his idea up to the group.

DeNeal: So what have you two been thinking as far as alliances go?

Rufus(Unscrewing a canteen lid): Honestly, I haven't really been thinkin' 'bout that stuff. I've just been tryin' to survive and all.

DeNeal: Well, I think that we should start thinking about something like that since an alliance could be key to us surviving at this point.

Fernando raises an eyebrow and speaks up.

Fernando(Cagey): What are you thinking, compadre?

DeNeal: Us five guys strong. We ride it out and take out some of these weaker girls like Cornelia and Janice.

Rufus nods his head a bit as Fernando is seen biting his lip at Cornelia's name being brought up by DeNeal.

Rufus: I mean, I'd be good wit that. I like all of the guys here and it's a solid way to keep our tribe strong.

DeNeal(Nodding): Exactly. We'd put ourselves in a good position and strengthen the team at the same time. It's a win-win.

Rufus grins as Fernando goes back to what DeNeal said earlier.

Fernando(A bit unsure): So if we were to go in as an alliance of men, Janice and Cornelia would be the first ones on the chopping block?

DeNeal: That'd be the ideal boot list.

Rufus(Pointing to DeNeal): Man, I'd love for Janice to go first. She doesn't do anythin' besides sit around and talk smack 'bout you.

DeNeal's eyes go wide as he was not expecting someone to be questioning him at this stage of the game.

DeNeal(Annoyed): Really? Well, if that's the case, then she just signed her own death warrant right there.

Fernando relaxes a bit as Rufus nods in agreement that Janice needs to be the first one to go.

I was actually very surprised to hear that Janice was criticizing and demeaning my leadership behind my back. It really puts me off since she is about the last person who should be saying that, seeing that she is probably the least prepared for this game. She's dressed in all her fru-fru fancy clothes like she's here to host a banquet or something. But this ain't a ball, this is Survivor. That combined with her slandering my name is why she needs to be the first one to go.

–DeNeal

As he calms down a bit, DeNeal starts to solidify their pact.

DeNeal: So I'm pretty sure Allan would be good with what we've got going here.

Rufus(Nodding): Oh, no doubt. Zed would be easy to lock in too since he's already shakin' in his boots 'bout bein' the oldest guy out here.

DeNeal(Grinning): Awesome. Then it looks like we have everything in place for now. Are you both ready to hang on for the ride?

Both Rufus and Fernando agree to the idea of an all-guy alliance as the men put their hands in the middle and do a quick cheer on three before the view's focus hones in on Fernando who's cautious and cagey behavior is starting to manifest in his facial expression.

I do have a few selfish reasons to not go with the guy's clique. After all, my closest ally so far is Cornelia, who is definitely NOT a guy.(Chuckling) Secondly, I don't know if I can trust any of these guys to have my back when it comes down to the wire. I haven't really bonded closely with any of them yet and to put myself in an agreement with them this quickly could be a big mistake for me later down the road. So when it comes to DeNeal's plan, I'm cautiously approaching the idea, but there's no guarantee that that is what I'm gonna go for.(Shrugging)

–Fernando

The scene is soon transitioned over to the main camp where Janice and Fran are observed sitting down by their firepit without a flame as the tribe still has not gotten fire. Cornelia is hunkered down in the shelter and wrapped up in one of Fernando's shirts to try and keep the shivers off.

Janice(Looking around): Where are the guys? I thought we were all gonna try and start a fire here soon.

Fran shrugs as Janice simply rolls her eyes and makes a rather thorny assumption.

Janice: Seriously? They're probably off making deals and scheming without us. Typical boys.

Janice giggles a bit as Fran smiles, but inside the retail manager is calculating every option and is already considering this idea as a possible reality.

What Janice said about the guys might actually have some strategic merit to it. Granted, I wouldn't have been so upfront with it as she was being, but it is still a possibility nonetheless. Just with how DeNeal has run this camp so far, I wouldn't be surprised if he was off trying to throw us girls under the bus and unite the guys right at this moment. It's a move that gets made over and over again in these first few stages of the game, and if it is happening on our tribe, then I want to put a stop to it.

–Fran

As the two keep on chatting about a possible all-dude voting block, a shot of Cornelia sitting in the shelter is shown as she sucks in her lips and stays silent throughout the entire conversation, clearly holding something back.

Janice has a big mouth on her, that's for sure. But her idea of all the guys getting together and forming a united and functioning alliance is impossible since Fernando's true loyalty lies with me. I'm confident that he'd choose to vote the way I wanted over what DeNeal and the boys wanted. For that reason, I decided to let him in on all the chatter and gossip that Janice has been spreading among us females about an all-male alliance.

–Cornelia

The view then immediately goes to show Fernando and Cornelia walking along the shoreline by themselves as the latter gives the former the dirt on what Janice has been saying about him.

Cornelia: So I need you to be really honest with me here.

Fernando: Okay. What is it?

Cornelia: I want to know if there was an alliance established between all the guys earlier today.

Fernando, a little awe-stricken that Cornelia already knows this information, immediately gives her what she wants.

Fernando(Nodding): Yeah, we did. But how in the hell did you find that out?

Cornelia(Smirking): Call it a theory. Let's just say that Janice's blabbering on finally came in handy today.

Fernando rolls his eyes, expressing his annoyance with the socialite.

Cornelia: My question is do you plan on going with them or not?

A bit of silence goes through the air before Fernando comes up with an answer.

Fernando(Shrugging): I'm not sure yet. Like I've said before, you're my only true alliance in this game right now.

Cornelia(Raising an eyebrow): Well, I feel the exact same way. And I HOPE that it can stay that way.

Fernando is a bit weirded out by the slight air of malice and suspicion in Cornelia's tone as she quickly changes the topic before he can reply.

From day one, I really trusted Cornelia wholeheartedly. We get along the best out of anyone here and I think we have the potential to make it far as a pair. The problem that seems to be coming up is her paranoia. I don't think she believes I'm being genuine when I say that I'm not with the guys. And if she doesn't trust me, then our whole partnership falls apart at the seams. I'm hoping to God that that doesn't happen, but the situation I've been thrust in with these other dudes is not really helping.

–Fernando

Shots of DeNeal trying to start the fire and Cornelia rolling her eyes at him are shown before the scene switches over to the Lan Xang beach.

Lan Xang[]

The music and tone start to pick up as the camera slowly pans down onto the Lan Xang camp. The area is covered in rainwater from the storm on their first night as shots of water dripping off of various plant life is shown. The focus then goes to the castaways as most of them are just waking up while Jonas gets up and takes a look at all of the water that is now in their camp.

Jonas(Smiling): Jeez, is half the ocean in our camp now?

Kel and Aaron are both seen laughing at Jonas' humorous remark as Marco smiles before striking the flint and starting up the fire again in one, single, try.

Last night, we had a wicked thunderstorm that went through and ravaged up the jungle and drenched our camp in water. However, the shelter that we built was strong enough that it survived the night and pretty much kept all of us inside dry up until morning. So that was definitely a victory for us knowing that we're secure with our shelter situation. Along with that, we're all getting along pretty well and we've got fire. I mean, how could it get better than that for our second day out here?(Chuckling)

–Marco

As Marco bro-hugs both Jonas and Aaron, Meredith is seen opening their tribe's bag of rice as she and Sophie are now deciding on how much to cook for the morning.

Meredith(Holding up the scooper): So do you think we should do five or six scoops?

Sophie: Hm, let's go five. Everyone already seems to have some energy in them this morning so we might as well conserve the rice for later.

Meredith nods enthusiastically as she starts dishing the rice into the pot.

Camp life for us here at Lan Xang is going really well so far. We've got a good vibe going, our shelter looks awesome, everyone's working hard, and we have a super cohesive group in general. There hasn't been any type of drama or anything yet that's put us off our game, which is great since our first immunity challenge is only a day away. And I'm confident that our unity as a tribe is going to translate over to the challenge and get us that win. Fingers crossed!(Giggling)

–Meredith

A few more shots of people working and talking happily with each other are shown before the focus stops on a scene between Jada and Terry as the two of them are lounging by the fire and chatting it up with each other.

Jada(Groaning): Ugh, I'm still really tired right now.

Terry(Jokingly): Yeah, you look like you just got out of bed.

Jada(Laughing): Screw you!

Terry chuckles as Jada playfully punches his shoulder for insulting her like he did.

Terry has definitely become a fast friend of mine out here. We both have the same cold, blunt, nature about us that tends to rub others the wrong way, and we immediately bonded over that.(Giggling) It just feels so nice to have someone here who I can just let loose with and not schmooze or be fake like I have to be with the rest of these people. He's a real dude, and I love that. We've already got kitschy, little, nicknames for almost everyone on this tribe by now.(Shrugging and Grinning)

–Jada

The view then shows the two as they observe Marco and Aaron talking with each other while dropping off some more firewood.

Terry(To Jada): Bro alert.

Jada looks over and rolls her eyes, sitting up and leaning in to make sure that Terry is the only person to hear what is coming out of her mouth.

Jada(Referring to Marco): Doesn't his head look like a gumball machine?

Terry(Laughing): Wait, what?

Jada: You know, stick a quarter in and get some stupid little gumball out? That's what I think of when I see him. Seriously, he needs to cut his hair or something.

Terry chuckles as a shot of Jonas walking by is shown next.

Jada(Gossipy tone): God, I like the guy, but he'd be so much more appealing if he didn't have those grungy dreads going on.

Terry: I know. He looks like he should be running a gang or something, not out here on Survivor.

Jada covers her mouth to try and keep from laughing out loud as Terry just shakes his head and smiles.

Looking at my tribe, I don't see myself connecting all that well with anyone besides Jada. We both have similar personalities and mentalities when it comes to playing this game and we're both from the same upper-level corporate backgrounds. It's our way or the highway for the two of us, and I really like that I don't have to put a filter on my mouth when I'm around her. She's certainly my closest ally at this point and I honestly don't see anyone else taking that honor anytime soon.(Chuckling)

–Terry

Eventually, Kel notices the two of them not doing any work and decides to suggest that they get a move on.

Kel(To Terry and Jada): Hey, guys. Sorry to interrupt and all but we're starting to run really low on water. Could you guys maybe go get some from the well?

Terry: Sure, we can head out in just a second.

Kel nods and thanks them for agreeing to do it before heading off to get some more work done. As soon as she is out of sight, however, the superficiality ends.

Jada(Rolling her eyes): Seriously? What a hard-ass.

Terry(Shrugging): Typical work horse. Makes sense, though. I never liked horses anyway.

Jada grins as she and Terry continue to talk and gossip about the rest of the people on their tribe.

When it comes to my position in this tribe, I want to keep everything rather quiet. The people who seem to be putting themselves out there right now are all super strong and into the whole "everyone do their part" thing, so I want to make sure I'm appeasing their expectations for the time being so they don't come after me. However, when it comes down to the vote, I ain't looking out for anyone besides myself and Jada. She's the only person I feel I can legitimately trust on this team, so I want to keep her close so that I can have a partner in crime to kind of do my dirty work for me.

–Terry

A shot of Terry giving off a confident smirk is seen before the scene switches to a later point in the day as Jonas and Marco are now sitting down and taking a quick break in the shelter while Jada is right across from them as she tends to the fire.

Jonas: God, I'm loving the energy that we all have right now.

Jada(Smiling): Right? I feel like everyone is kind of on the same page and that we're all, like, getting a LOT of stuff done.

Marco: Yeah, I've definitely got the same feelings that you guys have about this tribe. Though, I do think there are a few people who could pitch in a little more.

Jada: Like who?

Marco(Shrugging): I don't know. Like...Charlotte, for example. She's really the only person here who I haven't had a full-on detailed conversation with yet. Plus, she takes the most naps out of all of us.

Jonas nods, agreeing with the statement about Charlotte's perceived laziness.

Currently myself, Kel, and Aaron are a solid alliance. I have their backs and I'm sure they have mine as well. But, even so, I still worry that the other six could team up against us and try to make some big power play. So I'm making it my mission to try and get Charlotte's name in everyone else's ear when it comes to who should go first when and if we have to go to Tribal Council. That way, everyone's kind of looking at her as this easy boot rather than plotting against myself or my allies.

–Marco

Jonas: I've certainly seen what you're talkin' 'bout, Marco. She's just not the...nicest person from what I've seen and heard from her so far.

Marco(Nodding): Yeah, and I honestly feel like everyone else has shown that they deserve to stay here more than her.

Jada(Raising an eyebrow): So are you saying that she needs to be the first one to go home?

Marco: It's just something I'm throwing out there. You never know what might happen later on in this game, but for now, she'd be my choice.

Jonas nods once again as Jada cracks a small smirk before wiping it off and playing nice with the two of Marco and Jonas.

Very interesting to hear. Marco basically let loose the fact that he wanted Charlotte out of our tribe first if we were to go to Tribal Council tomorrow. Can I say stupid move? Because that's what it was, a stupid, stupid, move by him. I'm someone who will go with the flow by nature, but if I see an opening or opportunity, I'll love nothing more than to stir the pot and cause a bit of disorder amongst others. So, unfortunately for Marco, this information is gonna find it's way to Charlotte whether he likes it or not!

–Jada

The view then transitions to a shot of Jada bringing Charlotte to an isolated spot on the beach where they won't be heard easily before she starts filling the young anthropology student in on what has been said behind her back.

Jada: So just a heads-up, I was by the fire today and Marco was trying to persuade a few of us that it should be you who leaves here first.

Charlotte raises an eyebrow, immediately suspicious about the circumstances.

Charlotte: He said that about me?

Jada: Totally. It really put me off since he kept accusing you of not doing enough work around camp and that you'll be really weak in the challenges and all this other BS.

Charlotte just stands there, continuing to listen to Jada go on about the situation from her perspective.

Jada: In all honestly though, Meredith and Sophie may be pretty good around camp, but other than that they kind of suck at life. So I'd want one of them gone before you.

Charlotte lets out a bit of a snicker at Jada's sassy remark before replying.

Charlotte(Shrugging): I mean, I'm fine with whatever you have in mind. I don't really have much power here as you can see.

Jada giggles before telling Charlotte that she's got her back one-hundred percent when it comes down to the vote. Charlotte thanks her as the two girls start to move back towards camp.

Jada, to me, seems very disingenuous. I feel like she was only saying all of those things to me so that I'd have a meltdown and flame out or something like that. Well, sweetheart, that ain't happening so don't get your hopes up. I don't doubt her in the fact that Marco said all those things about me since that DOES sound a lot like the way he operates stuff around here as de facto leader. But, at the same time, Jada is as dumb as she looks if she thinks that I'm gonna go off on a tirade just because she wants to induce a bit of chaos. I know a lot better than to put my head in the guillotine like that.(Smiling)

–Charlotte

A shot of Jada giggling and laughing with Terry is shown as Charlotte looks on and rolls her eyes before the scene cuts to a commercial break.

Day 3[]

The view reopens with a few shots of the flora and fauna of Laos all throughout the area before an overhead panning shot of the jungle zooms in rapidly to show the sectioned off part of the ocean and beach for the castaways' first immunity challenge. Probst is seen standing near where the jungle meets the sand, ready to bring in both tribes.

Probst: Come on in, guys.

As both tribes enter in a single-file line, they all notice the Laotian-style hut next to Probst. They all realize that this is the famed Bazaar that was announced at the beginning of the game as they step onto their tribal mats.

Probst: Just giving you guys a little preview of what is to come. The Bazaar will always be set up at the immunity challenges and at every Tribal Council up until the final six.

A few nods come from the players, understanding how the twist will work into the usual functions of the game like Tribal Council and the challenges.

Probst: However, seeing that none of you have garnered enough points to purchase anything from the Bazaar, it will not be open either here or at Tribal tonight.

Sophie's shoulders loosen, as she is disappointed that they are being kept in suspense about what is available at the Bazaar. DeNeal, however, nods, a little bit relieved that they get three days without having to think about this new element.

Probst: Now, with all of that out of the way, are you guys ready to get to your first immunity challenge?

Enthusiastic nods and cheers erupt from both tribes as Probst eagerly gets into the basic rules of the challenge and how it will work and function overall. Once that is done, he states that the two tribes will get a minute to strategize and decide on roles before they begin.

The camera zooms in and back out rapidly to show both tribes in their starting positions for the challenge. Once Probst utters his famous line that he says at the beginning of each and every challenge, all of the swimmers and rope-pullers for each team sprint along the beach and towards their tribe-colored equipment. For the rope pullers, it is DeNeal, Rufus, and Fernando for Luang Prabang and Marco, Jonas, and Aaron for Lan Xang. They are all quick in getting the rope set up so that the swimmers can ride out onto the water on their movable platform. The swimmers for Luang Prabang are Cornelia, Fran, and Kacey while Charlotte, Kel, and Jada are swimming for Lan Xang. As the pullers for each team start to get their respective rafts on the water, all of the women are trying their best to accommodate for each other's presence so that they don't fall off. Thanks to the strength of all the people pulling the rope, both platforms move quickly across the ocean and the two tribes reach the underwater cage at roughly the same time, allowing the swimmers to disembark and start on retrieving all the rings for their tribe. For Lan Xang, Kel jumps in almost immediately while Jada goes to catch the rings as they come up. Over at Luang Prabang's platform, Cornelia is the first to jump in while the other girls go to retrieve the rings that she pulls out. Cornelia, however, struggles with staying under water long enough, coming back to the surface several times for breathing issues. Eventually, seeing that they were getting nowhere, Kacey tells Cornelia to switch with her and the model agency coordinator jumps in to try and get her tribe back in it. Meanwhile, being an avid and strong swimmer, Kel dominates that field of the challenge. She pulls out several bamboo stalks from the cage, some of which allow two life preservers to float to the surface, prompting Jada to snatch them up and for Kel to tag out. Charlotte is the next person out for Lan Xang, and she is quick to repeat and even go beyond Kel's success as she pulls enough bamboo out to get three life preservers to the surface, exciting Kel, Jada, and the rest of her tribe as they are starting to gain some momentum over Luang Prabang. Kacey, however, narrows the gap by staying down long enough to release two of the rings that rise up to the top of the water. As Cornelia grabs them, Fran tags in and splashes into the water, desperate to make up some time for her tribe. As she does so, the Lan Xang tribe maintains their lead as the swimmers have devised a functioning system of Kel and Charlotte switching off in the water while Jada grabs all the life preservers. As they continue to make progress, Fran gets two more rings up for Luang Prabang. Looking at the other team's success, Kacey decides to head back in so that they can keep from losing more time. By this time, however, Lan Xang only has one ring left in the water. Seeing what is holding it down, Kel promptly heads in and locates the meddlesome bamboo stick. She pulls it out, releasing the ninth and final life preserver for her tribe. Jeff then yells to them to get back on the raft so that they can get the rings to shore. As they start to get everything together, however, Fran, who has been carrying this portion on her back along with Kacey, pulls the right bamboo that lets the last three orange rings float to the surface, putting Luang Prabang back in it as they scramble to get back on their raft. As soon as Kel gives the signal, the three pullers for the purple team get back to work, trying their best to go as fast as they possibly can. As Fran and Kacey get situated, Cornelia has trouble getting back on the raft as she slips and falls back into the water, losing them some more ground. The former two help her back on and as soon as they are ready, the pullers for Luang Prabang get to it. Despite their efforts, both teams remain in the relatively same positions coming back to the shore. Lan Xang still has a bit of lead, but Luang Prabang is right there with them as the rings are handed off to the tossers. For purple, Meredith is the first to throw. Out of all of the rings, she is able to land one on the closest pole, exciting her tribe as she goes to pick up all the ones she missed. Zed is up for Luang Prabang, however, he misses all of his throws by a mile and has trouble in getting all of them back to Janice, who is the next thrower in line. Sophie is seen missing her throws for Lan Xang before Terry goes up and is able to extend their lead by getting a second ring on the far left pole. Janice, however, closes the gap as he lands her ring on the farthest pole, allowing Luang Prabang to inch a bit closer to Lan Xang. Meredith goes up again, but to no avail as both her and Sophie miss all of their throws again. In this time, Allan is able to land another orange ring on the pole, tying it all up. Everything is now on Terry and Zed as they both start to take aim. Unfortunately for Luang Prabang, history repeats itself as Zed doesn't come close to making any connections with the rings. Terry, however, catches the last ring on the farthest pole, winning his tribe immunity.

Probst: LAN XANG WINS IMMUNITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The cheers and excitement immediately come out as the Lan Xang tribe are all extremely happy to have won the first immunity challenge of the season. Meredith and Sophie both give Terry a big hug for landing the last ring on the pole while the rest of the tribe engages in a group hug. The view then focuses on the frustrated and worried faces of the Luang Prabang, particularly DeNeal, Zed, and Allan. Janice rolls her eyes as the Lan Xang tribe all give Terry the credit for their win.

Probst: Lan Xang, congratulations. You have won immunity for your tribe which guarantees all of you three more days in this game. Luang Prabang, a good effort but you came up short, unfortunately. Tribal Council tonight where one of you will become the first person voted out of Survivor: Laos. You have the afternoon to decide who that will be. Head on back to camp.

As everyone starts gathering their things together, either with excitement or disapproval, the camera shows shots of Janice, Zed, Cornelia, and DeNeal before the view is rapidly zoomed outwards and cuts to a commercial break.

Luang Prabang[]

The scene picks back up at the Luang Prabang camp as the disheartened tribe members are seen making their way back from across the beach, frowns on their faces from losing the first immunity challenge and having to go to Tribal Council. As everyone files into camp and starts to settle back in, the focus hones in on Fran as she is observed to be biting her lip and holding back a bit as she is nervous about what is to come now that everyone knows that someone has to leave.

So we just got back from our first tribal immunity challenge and the losers ended up being us.(Sighing) That definitely spoils our situation a bit more as we're already struggling enough with our shelter, the weather, and just everyday camp life in general, so to have to deal with voting someone out tonight on top of all that is really just a kick to the groin for all of us essentially.

–Fran

As silence rings throughout the atmosphere, Rufus and Fernando both speak up.

Rufus(Trying to be positive): Well, we were close. There ain't no disputin' that.

Fernando(Nodding): I agree. We were just working the kinks out like we've kind of been doing around camp as well. I'm sure that when we get another chance, we'll kill it in the next challenge.

Rufus nods at this while some tribe members, like Fran and Allan, are receptive to their outlook on the challenge while others, like Cornelia and DeNeal, are not all that enthused. While people start to break off into their own little groups, Zed can be seen gritting his teeth out of nervousness and paranoia.

Coming into this game, I knew that being the oldest wolf in the pack was gonna be a struggle to say the least. And, boy, today really showed that, didn't it?(Groaning) I just did not perform up to par today. I don't know what was up with those rings, but I could not aim them for the life of me. Hell, even the rich lady was able to land one and I still didn't it! If that's not a reason I should be worried tonight, then I don't know what is!

–Zed

The view quickly changes to a scene between the four guys of the tribe minus Fernando as they are all discussing the impending vote for the night.

Zed(Apologetically): I'm sorry, guys. I know I majorly screwed up on that last part with the ring tossing.

Allan(Patting him on the back): Don't be. We had lots of other issues pop up during the challenge. It wasn't all on you for losing. I feel like I missed a lot as well to be completely honest.

Zed smiles, happy that Allan is backing him up, but still a bit nervous nonetheless.

DeNeal: Don't worry, Zed. You're not going home tonight. Not if I have anything to say about it.

Zed looks over to DeNeal and raises an eyebrow as the football coach takes a swig of water from his canteen.

Well, we lost today. I can't say I'm all that surprised, though, seeing how we've performed around camp for these first few days. When it comes to who needs to be voted out tonight, only one name comes to my mind and that's Janice. She's done nothing but blab and whine her way through camp this entire time. She's annoying, she's untrustworthy, and she doesn't need the money AT all! Why in the world would you want someone like that on your tribe? You wouldn't, so she needs to go.

–DeNeal

The focus goes to Rufus as he decides to speak up.

Rufus: So it's still the same as yesterday, right? Janice?

DeNeal(Nodding): No doubt. I've had enough of her scheming and belittling me behind my back all the time. That woman is a pest and she needs to leave, like, now.

Rufus: Well, I have no problem with that.

Allan: Me either. She's a bit too lavish to hack it out here anyway.

DeNeal nods in agreement as Zed also agrees to voting Janice out.

Allan(Cautiously): What about Fernando, though?

DeNeal: What about him?

Allan: I mean, have you talked to him yet or anything about who he wants out?

DeNeal(Becoming suspicious): I'm sure he'll be fine with voting out Janice. What are you getting at?

Rufus(Trying to keep it calm and real): I think what Allan is tryin' to say is that we're a bit worried that Fernando's loyalties aren't one-hundred percent wit our alliance. He spends a LOT of time with Cornelia.

DeNeal(Shaking his head): No, that's not happening. Fernando is with us.

Rufus(Shrugging): Okay, if you say so.

Rufus looks to Allan, who gives him the same look of weariness while DeNeal remains oblivious.

Does Fernando spend a great deal of time with Cornelia? Sure. I see them talking all of the time around camp. Does it worry me about his loyalty? Not one bit. I've talked with him on a few occasions and I can sense that he is a very honest and savvy individual, and I have faith in the fact that he'll vote with the men tonight like we've planned. It's only the first vote, we don't need all these senseless questions and doubts going on already!

–DeNeal

After a bit more talking, Fernando and Cornelia are seen approaching the group and joining in on the conversation.

Allan: What's up, you two?

Fernando: Nothing much. Just sulking about the vote, I guess.

Cornelia playfully rolls her eyes as Allan smiles a bit as well, trying to mask his misgivings about the two.

Cornelia(Picking at her nails): So have y'all decided who it's going to be yet?

DeNeal: Janice.

Cornelia nods, already suspecting that to be the case as she and Fernando continue to converse with the other four before the view goes to a different area of the camp where we see Kacey, Fran, and Cornelia walking alongside each other and discussing strategy for the upcoming vote.

Fran: So what's the dealio, you two? What names have you guys been hearing so far?

Cornelia: Janice. Cut and dry. Just get that crazy lady out of here already.

Cornelia giggles a bit as Kacey smiles, nodding and agreeing with this while Fran is a bit more reserved.

The name that seems to be spreading around camp the most when it comes to the boot is Janice. And I can see why people are put off by her. She's pushy, distant, a bit posh, and overall does not seem to mix well with a lot of the people on our team. However, for myself, I think that voting Janice out tonight would be a big mistake. From what I've observed, the men of this tribe are very close. Too close for comfort in my opinion. And I'd have to be pretty stupid to just vote Janice out and let them gain full control over this tribe. Nuh-uh, that ain't gonna happen if I have a say in things.

–Fran

Fran(Biting her lip): See, the only problem with that is we basically hand the men the majority on a silver platter if we decide to get rid of Janice. They're really tight, and I'm personally not comfortable just letting Janice go without some assurance that I'm not next on the chopping block afterward.

Kacey: I've been getting the same vibes, honestly. As grating as she could be, I feel like all three of us would have a much better shot if a guy went home first.

Cornelia raises an eyebrow, a little put off by what Kacey and Fran are saying.

Cornelia: So who would we vote for then?

Fran(Shrugging): I'd say Zed. As much as I love him, he's the weakest out of the guys on our tribe and I don't want to lose a lot of manpower right off the bat.

Kacey: I'd be good with that. It still limits the men's power either way.

Fran(Giggling): Yeah, I just want to be careful so that one of these guys doesn't go on a Survivor shopping spree with this new twist or anything like that.

Kacey laughs as Cornelia nods, understanding the reasoning behind targeting Zed.

It was supposed to be a slam dunk. All eight of us were gonna write Janice's name boldly on our paper, but now Fran is putting a dent in the plan by trying to go after Zed and being all "girls, girls, girls," with her strategy and whatnot. But, truthfully, I don't trust any of these women on our tribe. Janice is absolutely annoying and Kacey and Fran just seem way too sneaky. I feel like they'd backstab me in a heartbeat if they could.(Smiling)

–Cornelia

As she notices Cornelia's perplexed expression, Fran puts her on the spot.

Fran(To Cornelia): How does that sound to you?

Cornelia: I mean, I'm just a little cagey about leaving Janice in the game, that's all. I don't trust her one bit and I think another three days with her antics are going to make life a living hell for all of us.

Kacey: I'd rather be annoyed and on top instead of annoyed and on the bottom. We're all gonna be annoyed either way so I don't see why we can't just keep her around a little longer.

Cornelia(A bit whiny): I just REALLY don't like her.

Fran(Nodding): We'll give you some time to think on it. Don't put too much pressure on yourself.

Cornelia thanks Fran before heading off in a different direction. As she leaves, Kacey looks to Fran and rolls her eyes, obviously she is rubbed the wrong way by Cornelia's indecisiveness.

What really worries me right now is how wishy-washy Cornelia is being about voting with the rest of the women. She seems to really dislike Janice, which I totally get, but still, come on girl! This is a human chess game essentially. And chess games are meant to be played with logic, not pure emotion. But that's exactly what Cornelia is doing right now, and it makes me and Kacey very wary of her.

–Fran

A shot of Cornelia sitting by the fire is shown before it switches and focuses on Kacey filling Janice in on her and Fran's plan to turn the target onto Zed over her.

Kacey(In a hushed tone): I don't know if you've heard anything yet but...

Janice(Frustrated): No, I haven't heard anything today! No one is talking to me or has given me any idea on who is supposed to be going home.

Janice shakes her head as Kacey frowns, feeling a bit of sympathy for the socialite before snapping her back to reality in order to give her the details of the plan.

Kacey: Here's the thing, though. Us girls know we're in trouble if we let someone slide while all these guys are still here. Fran agreed, she wants Zed out tonight instead of you.

Janice: So you and the other females want to keep me around and vote out Zed?

Kacey nods, adding in that they all believe him to be the weakest link. Janice understands, saying that she's fine as long as it isn't her who is in everyone's crosshairs.

I definitely believe that my days could be numbered out here. When we got back from the challenge, no one really made a point of coming to talk strategy to me, which shows me that these people really don't want anything to do with me. But, just when I was thinking that all was lost, Kacey approached me with a plan about the females of the tribe sticking together and ousting Zed to try and limit the guys' power. I'm all for it, honestly. Anything to get me out of this horrible position.

–Janice

Kacey(With reserve): The only problem we're facing right now is Cornelia. She is really wary about not voting with you tonight.

Janice: Why?

Kacey: I have no idea. Fran is trying her best to work her and some of the guys so that we have numbers to take out Zed tonight.

Janice(Snottily): Well, make sure you keep on it. She is blonde after all.

Kacey laughs a bit as Janice and her continue to talk and strategize about what they want to happen as far as the vote goes.

Cornelia's tripping, that's for sure. The girl has no idea what the hell she's doing out here and it is becoming blatantly obvious to everyone. I think that she thinks this is just a fun place to relax and chill out without having to do anything or make any stressful decisions whatsoever. Well, sweetie, it ain't. Sorry to disappoint you, but you need to wake up and see that we're all screwed unless we can get a guy to our side tonight. If we aren't united, then we are sunk. Literally.

–Kacey

The scene then transitions from the beach to the shelter as Cornelia has met up with Fernando and the two are conversing about some last-minute stuff before they have to go to Tribal.

Fernando: So what are you thinking right now?

Cornelia(Pushing her hair aside): Here's the thing, Fernando. Earlier today, the girls brought me aside and said that they were planning to vote off Zed.

Fernando(Shrugging): So? I like the sound of that to be honest. He's not someone I see being very good in any of the challenges, plus I haven't talked any strategy with him since the game started.

Cornelia(Rolling her eyes): Are you kidding me?

Fernando looks a bit weirded out, surprised that Cornelia is getting so prickly about his answer.

Cornelia: It's just, I was hoping you'd realize that these girls are here to lie and scheme their way through the entire game and I don't want to play with people like that. I still want Janice gone.

Fernando: Well, I'd prefer Zed to go home.

Cornelia just shakes her head and scowls as Fernando looks a bit lost as to why Cornelia is becoming so jaded about who they should be voting out.

Right now, me and Cornelia are deadlocked in terms of who we want gone. I personally would like to see Zed go home because he's weak in challenges and I really don't trust him or the other guys at this point. Cornelia, however, does not trust any of the women one bit, especially Janice, who is what everyone else has said they're putting down as their vote. As much as I want her to trust me and for us to stay tight, I also want to be in a position that I feel comfortable in, and I don't necessarily feel comfortable with any of the guys. We'll see how everything pans out at Tribal, though. Anything could happen.(Grinning)

–Fernando

The next thing that is shown is the sun starting to fall lower and lower in the sky as everyone on the tribe is getting ready for Tribal Council. Cornelia is seen wrapping a sweatshirt around her to keep warm as she grabs her bag and takes a deep breath.

I really don’t feel at all safe by going with the girls. All three of them are more deceitful and manipulative than any one of the guys that we have here. But Fernando just refuses to listen to me. He doesn’t trust the guys apparently, so we’re kind of at odds right now as far as the vote goes. I have no idea what we’re gonna do, it could be Janice or Zed tonight honestly. But all I can say is that Fernando, you can sweet talk all you want, but I usually get my way.(Giggling)

–Cornelia

A shot of all nine members of the Luang Prabang tribe is shown as they are all walking in a single file line along the shore and towards Tribal Council. As the sunlight is eradicated from the sky, the music intensifies and we are greeted via rapid zoom by an authentic and oriental Laotian temple, which will serve as the Tribal Council area for the season. As the castaways make their way into the structure, Probst is seen facing the players while they stand in front of their seats, patiently waiting for his instructions.

Probst: Behind each of you is a torch. Go ahead and grab a torch and dip it in the flame because in this game fire represents your life. Once your fire is gone, so are you.

All nine players do as they are told to do before dropping their newly-lit torches into their respective holders and taking a seat, awaiting Probst's questioning.

Probst: So let's get down to business. Allan, from your point-of-view, how has the first three days been for this tribe?

Allan: They've been okay. We've been able to find some good food and water sources, we're improving on our shelter, still haven't made fire yet...but we're getting to it.

Allan chuckles a bit as Probst smirks.

Probst: DeNeal, what does he mean by the fact that your shelter is improving?

DeNeal(Half-chuckling): Well, thing is, on the first night we didn't really set up our shelter in a timely and efficient manner, so the storm ended up knocking it over before any of us could even sleep in it.

A few laughs and giggles are heard, as everyone tries to see the comedy of the situation rather than the tragedy. Probst himself chuckles a bit before putting the spotlight back on DeNeal.

Probst: And what does that say about this tribe in that you guys weren't even able to get a shelter going on the first day?

DeNeal: I think it shows that we need to start improving our work ethic a little bit more. I mean, we have people here who still don't get the gist of daily chores and whatnot.

Probst: And who would those people be?

DeNeal(Biting his lip): I hate to point fingers but the people in my mind were Janice and Cornelia.

Cornelia simply rolls her eyes while Janice raises her hand to speak.

Probst: Yes, Janice, how does that make you feel to have your name thrown out there?

Janice: Right out of the gate, I knew that these people's impression of me wouldn't be good. I'm the oldest lady out here, I dress differently than everyone else, and I think that that does rub a lot of people the wrong way.

Rufus chuckles a little bit before an expression saying "You think?" appears on his face.

Janice(Getting more intense): But when it comes to the challenges, the physical aspect of this game, I think that I have pulled my weight. I started fire before any of the other girls in this tribe AND I was able to land a ring for our team in the immunity challenge. So when it comes to the challenges, I think that my performance shows that I deserve to stay here over others.

Probst: What others are you referring to, Janice?

Janice(Bluntly): Zed.

Zed sucks in his mouth, forced with the reality of having his head put right onto the chopping block.

Probst: Zed, that can't be sitting right with you at all.

Zed: No it is not, Jeff. I will admit that I've struggled in these first couple of challenges, but when it comes to almost every other aspect of Survivor, I think that I've killed it. Mental, social, work ethic...

Janice(Interrupting): No you haven't! You have barely said one word to me in this entire time span that we've been out here. As a matter of fact, I don't think you've gotten to know any of the women out here yet, have you?

Zed once again tries to explain himself, but Janice shoots him down like before, claiming that he is physically, socially, and strategically weak.

Probst: Fran, do you agree with what Janice is saying about Zed?

Fran: It's true. When it comes to the challenges, Janice has brought everything to the table while Zed really hasn't. However, socially they're pretty even for me at this point so I don't really see that as a determining factor in my vote.

Zed clenches his fists, getting more and more frustrated that he is being ganged up on.

Probst: Fernando, what do you think needs to happen tonight so that this tribe can go on to win some challenges?

Fernando: I think that that's a really tough concept for this group here because we do have weak people who are going to hold us back in challenges, but I also think that we have people who are causing drama and forming divisions amongst the tribe, which is equally dangerous and detrimental if we want to win. So when it comes down to it for me, I have to make the choice between socially weak or physically weak.

Both Janice and Zed's nervous faces are highlighted as Cornelia nods in agreement.

Probst: Well, with that it is time to vote. If you look to your right, you will see the area that has been set up for the Bazaar. However, seeing as no one has earned enough points to buy anything, that will not come into effect tonight.

Some nods and whispers are heard as Probst speaks up once again.

Probst: Allan, you're up.

One by one, each competitor from the Luang Prabang tribe casts their vote for who they want to see out of the game. Zed and Janice's votes are revealed to the viewing public while Fernando is the last person seen placing his vote in the urn before heading back and sitting down, feeling confident in his decision.

Probst: I'll go tally the votes.

Shots of DeNeal, Janice, Cornelia, and Zed's faces are shown before Probst walks back with the voting urn in hand.

Probst: Once the votes are read, the decision is final. The person voted out will be asked to leave the Tribal Council area immediately. I'll read the votes.

First vote: Janice (1-0)

Janice smiles, not being surprised by this in the least.

Second vote: Zed (1-1)

Zed takes a deep breath as his anxiety is starting to increase and his heart is beginning to race.

Third vote: Janice (2-1)

Fourth vote: Janice (3-1)

The socialite nods, expecting the votes to keep flying her way. Rufus is seen grinning at the more votes that Janice receives.

Fifth vote: Zed (3-2)

Sixth vote: Zed (3-3)

Zed cringes, very unhappy to see that people have gotten aboard of Janice's crazy train to try and take him out.

Seventh vote: Janice (4-3)

As the music intensifies, Janice can be seen rolling her eyes while Zed is praying that his name does not come up any more times. Fran bites her lip while Cornelia and Fernando are both shown with straight faces as Probst pulls out the next ballot from the urn.

Eighth vote:

Probst: First person voted out of Survivor: Laos....................................Janice. That's five and that's enough. You need to bring me your torch.

Janice sighs and nods her head, knowing that her time is now up as is Zed highly relieved to see that he survived the first vote. DeNeal and Rufus both look at each other and grin, happy that their plan worked out, while Janice is seen dropping her torch into the holder in front of Jeff.

Probst: Janice, the tribe has spoken.

Janice waves goodbye to her former tribemates as Fernando frowns, not happy that his and Cornelia's votes were the ones to put Janice out of the game. Fran looks to Kacey and shakes her head, both women pissed to see a girl walk and the guys maintain their numbers. Probst turns back to them, ready to speak up.

Probst: Well, when it comes down to it, you guys said that you wanted to improve your work ethic around camp and your chances at winning the next immunity challenge. The question is, did Janice's departure help or hinder you in the process?

DeNeal nods, knowing that they have to be even more determined for the next challenge if the want to win.

Probst(Smirking): One more order of business concerning the person voted off. Seeing as how this season is a bit different with the Bazaar points and all, the role of the person eliminated will change.

Fernando raises an eyebrow, a bit worried to hear what Jeff is going on about.

Probst: This time around, the dead can still talk for a moment longer as every person eliminated from the game will give away any remaining points that they have to a person of THEIR choosing from their tribe.

Kacey's eyes go wide as DeNeal's mouth is blurred, realizing how much they might've screwed up by letting Janice, someone with a bit more points than others, go.

Probst: You'll be informed of Janice's choice via treemail when you get back to camp tonight. Head on out. Have a good night.

Tension and suspense is back in the air as the eight remaining castaways all grab their torches with anxious and excited faces while they are exiting the Tribal Council area. As they do so, the intro music is cued in and the view cuts to black.

Voting Confessionals[]

You are honestly one of the rudest people I've ever met in my entire life. I did feel bad writing your name down without getting to know you, but now that I know you, I have no problem seeing you leave.

–Zed

Just calling 'em as I see 'em. If you want to be ignorant, then that's your problem if you get voted out tonight.

–Janice

Final Words[]

I definitely feel like I was given the short end of the stick tonight. I fought, I yelled, I hollered, but it doesn't seem like it mattered much to the majority of my tribe since they apparently wanted me out since the first day. Oh well, it's their loss if they want to keep weak, old, Zed around. As for my points, I'm giving them to Fran, as she was the one to spearhead the plan to save me, so I feel that she does deserve something for that. I hope you use them well, dear.(Smiling)

–Janice Sutherland
